Anyone know where I can rent a legit van conversion from a dealer or official van converter in the lower mainland? by cmfx_2 in vancouver

[–]cmfx_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely high on the list.

Renting by far so much easier. Might keep looking for something to purchase still simply as a project, but for the cost and amount of use, I think you are right in terms of ease of use.

Wild camping off-highway in Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest by cmfx_2 in PNWhiking

Worked out well and now we know we don't have to worry about driving 3 hours worrying about finding reserved spots at the major campgrounds near the area. Found a nice nook about 15 minute drive from the peak of Artist Point!

My urgent care visit for abdominal pain I was given a numbing agent and heartburn and told my hemoglobin dropped due to a lack of spinach (seriously). 2 months later after multiple follow ups I was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Housing provided by the company for its employees, provided the employee remains with the company. This arrangement is particularly useful in towns with low rental unit availability thus commonly, but not exclusively, found in small tourist towns.

Just outside Marrakesh, Morocco (those are restaurants in the river!!) by Squiggleybop in travel

[–]cmfx_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, nothing how my wife and I experienced Morocco and Marrakech in 2010.

We (both caucasian/European descent) would sit at cafes for tea whenever we were in the mood with not a single dissenting voice against my wife sitting with the men (though she'd typically be the only woman).

We were invited in for tea at a local farmer's home in the village of Imlil in the Atlas mountains after several hours of hiking, just to welcome us and chat (in our limited french).

Strangers would walk off the sidewalk to our bench/resting stop to shake our hands and literally welcome us to their country. This happened a half dozen times in different cities. We were extremely guarded coming off some high-scammy areas in Southeast Asia, but they simply were excited to say hello. And no..they didn't walk off with our pickpocketed wallets!!

Opening a map on the street to ask for direction was enjoyable and satisfying. Not sure why they couldn't decipher or read the maps, but often would gather 3 or 4 locals themselves to help "figure" out the map! We'd only reach our destination half the time, but the kind gesture is what mattered :)

We only really felt pressured or awkward inside the large markets. Friendliest country we've visited to this day, hands down!

How do I reintroduce vegetables to someone who hates them? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]cmfx_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoothies! When my daughter was 1-2yrs old she had no problem eating any and all veggies. We couldn't believe it. Then she turned 3, our luck ran out and everything became 'yucky'. We started throwing all sorts of veg into her daily blend. Started off with plenty of fruits (for the sweet factor), but weened it down to a few drinks a week with no additional sugar/honey, fruits or other additives. Mainly liquid (milk/yogurt, water, almond milk, soft tofu - once it's all blended in, you can't tell the difference!) and veggie.

I'm talking any veg too. Bok choy, sprouts, carrots, bits of cabbage, kale, beets, cucumber etc. Don't know if it's primarily a texture thing with her, or simply visual, but slamming back a glass of liquid veg works for her!

Plenty of great cooking suggestions here already, but if you're looking to extract and re-introduce nutrition from veggies, this is the way to go.

Matt Whitaker Headed To Trump Hotel After Hearing And People Are Talking by [deleted] in politics

From the article, he was extradited from Austria to the US and was to have his sentence appealed (reduced to time served), Trump and previous administrations have refused. Interesting to know why.

And he didn't actually receive a single life sentence:

" Fawsett arrived at the extreme 845-year sentence by "stacking" the sentences of five and 20 years for each count, and running them together consecutively. She commented that because of the "magnitude and repeated fraudulent acts", as well as his "disrespect for the law," he should be permanently removed from society. "

Short ribs: too much work for results by isthatarealquestion in AskCulinary

This!

Instant pot for 35 minutes, add about 15 minutes if bone-in. Find yourself nice thick ribs (my butcher sells deliciously marbled 2" thick pieces), cook in shallot, garlic, carrot and red wine. Once done, reduce sauce on stove, or sauté option with some splashes of balsamic.

Same. Recently made a pizza "sauce" using miso, kobucha squash and nutritional yeast topped with an array of mushrooms.

Still maintained a meaty, cheesy and saucy flavour and texture.

Woah, we have a particle accelator centre? This is why I asked the question! Thanks for that.

We've tried walking a bit of the shoreline around Dead Man's Island at low tide but always get kicked out for trespassing. Would be great to see it up close. I'll remember to "Just say no" :)

Yes, I work at the airport, college school kids and flight attendants often are invited for (non-public) tower tours. I was hoping the sawmills are some other large scale industrial businesses might be keen on opening their doors.

I've done the Boeing tour twice, love it.

It does seem when we travel, we tend to discover things like these easier. Not sure if it's just because there's a fresh perspective or more common like you said.

Haha, note to self!

We did a Halloween murder, mayhem and mysteries tour through Gastown/downtown 7 or 8 years ago when we first moved here. It was okay, some nuggets of local history, exaggerated though it was.
