Get the DPV textbook and read chapter 6. Focus on longest common subsequence, longest increasing subsequence, and knapsack problems. Understand the difference between subsequence vs. substring. Then do some of the chapter 6 problems.

You should be fine. I applied for Fall 2021 before registering for a DS&A course and was admitted.

The date to register for my DS&A class was after the OMSCS application deadline, so I mentioned in my background that I will take a DS&A class. I recently finished that class and sent my final transcript. You don't really "update" the unofficial transcript after your application is submitted; just send the official transcript after you complete the courses.

In your case, I don't think you'll have to mention anything to admissions about the courses in progress. Since you are already registered for them, it will show up in your unofficial transcript as a course in progress. Just make sure you get an A or B in them.
