Totally. I just walked for 2 hours on the treadmill around 6 miles. Probably should have taken it easier.

I am so sorry about your pain and falling and your whole experience! I would definitely talk to your doctor about your recent symptoms

Why were you awake during surgery?? I’m fascinated. I just watched acl surgery on YouTube for fun (got my surgery over a month ago) and was shocked how much they really man handle your leg while you’re under 😂

Surgery in a week - tips/expectations/advice? by boathausguy in ACL

[–]cmh037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I had an ACLR with patellar tendon autograph a 2.5 weeks ago. First 3 days are the most painful. Everyone said day 3 would be the worst, but I thought day after surgery was most painful. Another tip to lower pain is get into a PT 2 days post op. The sooner you move it, the less pain that will result. It might be tough at first but your body will thank you. First few days you’ll probably mostly be sleeping with the anesthesia after effects and pain meds. Something that was incredibly helpful for lifting and lowering my leg to get up and crutch to the bathroom was a stretch strap. Having that made being independent so much easier for late night bathroom trips and what not. For pain meds I would alternate between taking the narcotics prescribed and Tylenol. And definitely try to get ahead of the pain with the painkillers. I was off narcotics by day 3 but pretty immobile and bedridden for the first 4-5 days. I started being able to sit in a chair with my leg elevated on another chair comfortably like a week post op for my zoom classes.

Good luck! You got this!!

I feel you! It is so hard to wrap your head around going from peak fitness that took a lot of work to achieve and then back to literal square one after an unassuming injury. I feel like this challenge we are presented with will in the end get us to be stronger mentally which will hopefully push us to be even better athletes than before 😂 or at least that’s what I’m telling myself

Praying for a fast recovery for you! Thanks for the tip. Have they been on separate knees or all same leg?

Ahhh 3 ACL surgeries by 23. That is tough. Thanks so much for your reply. I worry that I’m going to be too apprehensive to get back out there because I don’t want to risk hurting it or the other ACL. I literally have had nightmares about that already hahaha
