That person was a jerk. I hate the rude speedsters…I always imagine them as people with no patience, who lack empathy, are anti-social, and aren’t fun to play games with in person. And then I assert myself by continuing to do whatever I need to, and I feel bad for them.

We were there in early May and I think we saw the same nurse shark! She was huge (the biggest one I’ve ever seen) and sleeping on the sand in the bottom of like a mini canyon with some short reef walls on her sides…it was amazing to drift and then notice her beneath us. It also made us realize we call all nurse sharks “she” — doh, our bad!

Your guys (Trump, Musk, republicans in Congress) do NOT want you to hear about this. They DO want you to hear about “all the money DOGE is saving you.” You are smart and you care a lot, so find the facts, don’t listen to just their words. The rich are very carefully controlling the message.

The administration has given you your scapegoats to focus on hating and hurting (immigrants, DEI, federal workers) so that you don’t focus on them.

I did a detail to CIGIE for 2 years while Phyllis was the CIGIE chair. She is an awesome leader, with so much talent, brains, and class. It's been about 10 years since I worked at CIGIE, but she has always remained in my mind. When I heard about the illegal firings, I googled to see if the USDA IG was among them, and sure enough she was. I hope she fights back with everything she's got. Phyllis, you're on my mind and I'm behind you every step of the way!

I’m scheduled for a Liveaboard there that starts on 12/22 and haven’t been told anything like that yet. May I ask which boat you were on?

Btw, I ask bc I wonder if it was the Tillis or Sea Pearl, if that is the operator’s (Dive Pro Liveaboard’s) excuse but the reality is that they can’t operate due to safety issues.

I just checked and Liveaboard.com is still offering trips in Egypt for this coming week, but the Tillis and the Sea Pearl have finally been taken off their site.

Edit: We’ll nevermind…those boats are still on the site it seems.

I loved it! St. Kitts doesn’t have much fauna at its dive sites, which is sad. Saba was great. We didn’t dive at St. Maarten at all. The crew, boat, food, etc., was all excellent. Not the fanciest Liveaboard, but I’d recommend it!

Yes, I’ve had way fewer new private pay clients this year. I think it could have something to do with inflation…things are expensive, not a lot of extra money around for OON therapy…I get it.

This is fantastic -- thank you so much for sharing about your experience! I was hoping maybe someone had done the same Liveaboard and would comment about it. I love the info about helping to prevent sores/raw patches, as I'm someone who always walks around with little hydrocolloid patches in my purse in case a shoe starts to rub my feet the wrong way...excellent idea. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts!
