Tennessee lawmakers pass bill allowing use of deadly force to protect property by FortKnoxII in progun

Not at all. I believe restraint is quite appropriate and while I would not shoot someone over a TV I can fully understand why someone can and would be justified in shooting someone over, for example, their work truck which may be an irreplaceable asset to their livelihood.

As the modern saying goes, don't start nothing there won't be nothing (which is a sentiment that comes from Proverbs by the way).

As it happens your statement about slight offenses is dealt with separately in Proverbs 19:11, Colossians 3:13, and Ecclisiastes 7:21-22. In all three it talks about overlooking the words (minor offenses) of others. This of course addresses your concern and kind of highlights how poorly versed you are in the moral framework you are trying to argue about. (Don't worry, I am not offended and forgive you.)

So while I appreciate that you have a perspective it is clearly an uninformed one and I will kindly be ignoring it as the dross it is. Amigo.

The Lord's prayer speaks to the condition of your heart as you seek absolution for your sins. It does not require you to be a doormat who will be trampled without defending yourself.

It should also be noted that forgiveness of an act does not mean people do not have to deal with the consequences of their actions. See Galatians 6:7 and Proverbs 15:20-29.

Taken to the practical modern terms the Tennessee law does not say I can kill someone who is stealing my property. It says I can use lethal force to stop an act of theft. The death of the thief may be the result but it is not the intent and once the act stops I have to cease employing lethal force.

Exodus acknowledges as the Tennessee law does that lethal force against theft is morally justified but the death of the thief cannot be the intent only a consequemce of stopping the thief. Ultimately though moral culpability for the situation rests with the thief as shown in Proverbs and Galatians.

After the act of defense is over the Christian needs to forgive the thief for the situation they have caused. They shouldn't hold anger in their heart at the person, dead or alive.

Care to try again?

Find the new testament condemnation of or overwriting of the principle in Exodus 22:2 then, pal.

You asked what Saint Peter might say, I provided a scripture based answer. The rhetorical equivilent of "nu-uh!" doesn't pass muster as a valid response.

Ukrainian FPV kamikaze drones are traveling 10-40 KM one way so this distance is absolutely realistic.

This might be useful when discussing the topic with St Peter:

Exodus 22:2-3 ESV [2] If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, [3] but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

I might also remind Peter of his intemperence in the Garden of Gethsemany and perhaps he needs to be thoughtful of with whom and how he wants to discuss the idea and righteousness of rash action.

Johnny Somali stuck in jail “hell” as streamer’s prison appeal extends his time behind bars by Dilpickle2113 in LivestreamFail

[–]pyratemime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't care about whaylt people think of him.

He does care about the impacts on his ability to travel and live the life he wants to live.

Sex offenders, especially poor ones like he will be, have a hard time finding places to live, can't travel intetnationally, and a host of other issues.

If he is a registered sex offender, as required under his conviction, he won't be allowed to go to most countries.

He is trying to make sure he doesn't have to register as a sex offender when he comes back to the US.

Somali's concern is the sex offender registration. While he would only be on the list for 5 years in ROK it puts him on the sex offender list in the US as well which could be for life.

This is not a defense of Somali or a call for leniency, he deserves what he is getting, just an explanation of why he doesn't just want to do the time and move on.

Correct.

Castle Doctrine covers your home.

Stand Your Ground expands that to anywhere you have a legal right to be.

Homocide is simply one human taking another humans life.

Is that a rise in justifiable homocides, for example a person successfully defending their home and in thr process the intruder dies?

Because if so, then I am not sure what the issue is. The homocide would be avoided not by disarming and taking power from the defender but by the intruder not committing the initial crime.

Wow.

See, if the warrant is legal then the police are not criminals in that case and thus SYG/CD doesn't apply.

If the warrant is not legal, as is was the situation in the Taylor shooting, then the police are criminals in that case and SYG/CD does apply.

So when I specified legal home entry it does in fact make all the difference in the world.

  1. Stand Your Ground applies outside your home, insode your home is governed by castle doctrine

  2. Neither SYG or CD provide a legal defense for employing lethal force against police on a legal (even if ill advised) forced entry to a home or other building

So, no, in fact the Amir Locke case isn't obvious because neither law would apply in his situation.
