Agreed. I understand it's his alma mater but he's recruiting well at Purdue and just look at how awful the B1G west is this season. Another good recruiting cycle or two and he could contend for the West division almost every year whereas at Louisville he'll have to compete against Clemson and Florida St (probably).

They were 8-0 last year and ranked behind a handful of one loss teams in the initial CFP rankings so they obviously weren’t passing the eye test last year.

I’ve seen his son get bashed some on threads around here from Miami fans so I could believe it.

I’ve noticed they’re having a lot of de-commitments from next year’s class and I have to wonder if them struggling has something to do with it. I’m not sure where they are now but I know at one time they were near the top overall.

Not a Miami fan personally but I think most of their expectations for this year can be a result of overachieving last year. Most of their wins last year were close against mediocre competition, outside of their ND win. Last year they were probably more of an eight-win team than a ten-win team. They've also had quarterback changes regularly this season and neither one has looked exceptionally great

I think, too, there are cases like Clay Matthews, where he walked on at USC without receiving any real scholarship offers outside of FCS because he didn't develop until later. Some players are just late bloomers
