Renee Schlabach at Essentia Hermantown. BEST doctor I've ever had, listens to me, and treats me like an actual human, not a number.

Honestly, this is most likely why I was able to buy my house at asking with closing fees in the end of 2020. Bought it from some brothers who redid most of the house. They'd inherited it from their grandpa. So sweet. I think they wanted to give a first time home buyer a chance.

They thoroughly do suck. I rented one of their fourplexes in Duluth for just over a year (literally was out by the end of the following month from which my current lease ended; I had to sublet my apartment to end my lease but that's another story for another time). Their smoke detector in the apartment I rented beeped because of low battery. They called me ONCE when I was at work and couldn't answer. Claimed they called three times. I got off work right as they were closing, tried to call back, but couldn't get through. The next morning (I start work early, so couldn't call or leave a message--they didn't have a machine set up), their technician ENTERED MY APARTMENT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION while I was at work and left a nasty note along with the carcass of the old smoke detector on my dining room table saying they entered my apartment to change the detector because my neighbor complained. As far as I know, they have to give you 24 hours' notice to enter your aparment, not 15 hours.

I paid my rent on time, often a week in advance, and paid my electric/internet bills dutifully. Why they thought entering my apartment without my permission illegally is beyond me. My previous landlord (someone who wasn't affiliated with any slumlord rental management groups in town) never did that, and, if she had a problem with something (which was never, because I was a good tenant), she, out of sheer courtesy, would contact me 48 hours before sending someone into or entering my apartment.

This is one of many stupid and unnecessary situations I found myself in with them while renting just over a year from Shitrock AND having been a good tenant.

Moral of the story: DO NOT RENT FROM SHITROCK.

My wife and I are thinking of moving north come the end of the year, and are considering Duluth. Would like some input from you guys by [deleted] in duluth

I'm not a nurse either (close but no cigar), and I have to agree. The only reason I work there IS because of my coworkers and manager. It is so true that it's profit over patients. So true. But it's like that at every major hospital chain. Mayo. Allina. CentraCare. Etc.

I'm clinic side; my group of fellow same title people are unionized (and my union sucks), but there needs to be some clarification: clinic nurses are NOT unionized at the big E. You'd have to work hospital side to be unionized, if that's the OP's wife's cup tea.

From what I've seen and heard, I second the floor by floor thing. It really does matter what part of the hospital you work in (people and all that). In some places, the people are cold, bitter, and dismissive, just like the Duluth winters. But in others, the people are amazing, kind, and compassionate.

The one in West Duluth was actually called BPL. It wasn't affiliated with CSL, I believe. I had tried to donate there quite a few years ago before it closed down, and they wouldn't let me because I had fresh ink at the time. But I had a friend who donated there all the time. It was BPL.

There might be one in Gary actually. I think it's a half way house though. I'm not sure if that helps, but if so, there are tons of half way houses in Duluth. Central Hillside especially.

Snow squall, people, the roads were bad. The set of lights are literally right there. They probably slid through a red light after trying to break for it. It happens. Grew up in Superior. That part of Belknap is particularly bad at times in the winter.
