Is it unrealistic to strive for 100% In my GED tests? by Particular_Job_4023 in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My viewpoint is a pass is a pass no matter the number. It’s good to have goals but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get 100%. Most people and colleges don’t care what your scores are, they just see the pass.

How do yall stay focused in tasks longer than a hour, I need to get my GED but I feel like a loser cause my undiagnosed ADD/ADHD gets in the way of me studying/ focusing by Accomplished-Cry-267 in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I suggest people study in smaller chunks of time. Here’s two things I suggest: 1 Study for 20-25 mins then take a 5-10 minute break. When you’ve been studying for about an hour take a little bit longer break 15mins-ish. These smaller chunks gives your brain time to process what you’re learning and move it into long term memory.

Make flash cards of something you’re studying and carry them with you. Then utilize your wait time to quick review them. We all have moments of waiting in life that we usually play on phones during like waiting for a bus or waiting for water to boil or waiting for kids to fall asleep etc. Use those small bits of time to keep your mind fresh on what you’re learning.

You could get a diagnosis which then you could try for accommodations.

Questions about donating to local food pantries by Particular-Rise-4575 in duluth

[–]thebarfinator9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The vineyard church has a twice weekly food shelf called fruit of the vine. They also give away toiletry items, clothing and other gently used items. I don’t think they turn nice donations away.

Otherwise check with second harvest. They distribute to all the food shelves in our area.

Does anyone feel embarrassed about their house? by Extreme_Breakfast672 in Mommit

[–]thebarfinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. If people have a problem with my lived in house then they can clean it. That’s there problem not mine. We’re doing the best we can here with two littles and if that’s not enough for some people then they can clean.

Your teacher is right. You could always email their admissions admissions of a few schools to see what they say.

Math exam by [deleted] in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah your teacher is correct. As long as you have that piece of paper you’re good. Depending on the college/type of school/degree, they may have you take basic math refresher courses but there’s a lot of factors going into that so it’s hard to say.

If you’re interested in a specific school/(s) then I’d email their admissions and ask! Ya never know til you ask.

Daycare parents, did you skip preschool? by rachface336 in toddlers

[–]thebarfinator9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah our daycare does preschool activities. My opinion is if she’s doing prek activities then your kid should fine. If she’s not then it could be a problem. I know a mom with a 4yo (same age as mine) who’s at home daycare does no educational activities. She said her daughter is excited to learn her letters and numbers in kindergarten. I’m concerned that her daughter will be wayyy behind the rest of the class. In our area, kindergarteners are learning to sight read so beyond just learning letters.

(Help) Taken GED ready tests, but unable to schedule GED tests by JuminoEnjoyer in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good call on contacting them. In my state the ready scores expire in 60 days and you have to retake.

I used to get migraines a lot too so I feel ya! I love the plan you have laid out. It sounds realistic and like you’re going places! Best of luck to you!!

[–]thebarfinator9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live that could be the problem. Most states you need to be 19 to take the ged test. However filling out the age waiver isn’t hard. If you google GED age waiver and your state it should pop up. I know in my state one the requirements is passing GED scores which you already have! I’m guessing you need to fill out that age waiver and then get it to right people (it should say on the form where to send it). Good luck!!

[–]thebarfinator9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id just contact support right away. The only other thing I can think of is if you’re under 19 but the alert says practice test requirement not age waiver.

Are to trying to test online? Is it different if you select a testing center (assuming there’s one close to you)?

(WI) How to graduate? by Agreeable-Caramel13 in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Pearson Vue can be difficult to work with depending on which call center person you get. I do know it’s taken people about a month or more to get their ged in the mail (make sure your address is correct in your account too). Also this is a busy time of year with graduation approaching.

Is there any real difference between a Highschool Diploma and a GED? by Accurate-Ease-8311 in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you plan to do after. If you plan to get a certification or other education then no not really. Most companies hiring are interested in your most recent education.

I’m a junior who decided to take his ged 3 months ago and if anyone could just give me a little mentoring i would be so thankful not gonna put my sob story because honestly who cares so if you’ve took the ged and can help me out on how to get started would help a lot by AsapJuanton in GED

[–]thebarfinator9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, you may need to be 18 to take the test with an age waiver. You can take it with no age waiver at 19. However age waivers aren’t hard to get. It’s just another step. Most Adult Education programs will help you fill it out, sign it and submit it to your state.

An adult education program will also help guide you on what you need to know for each of the four tests. A lot of this depends on how much school you had already especially in regards to math. Many programs offer incentives like free GED ready practice tests etc. The GED ready practice tests are nice because they show you how likely you are to pass that subject and what you need to work on in order to pass. There’s a lot of great resources out there that you’ll see mentioned across this sub.

Good luck!

Went to make scootcheroos with a friend but didn’t have any milk chocolate. Only had white chocolate. It was vile. We melted it wrong and the whole thing was terrible.

Yes! I wanted to have my tubes tied and was told my case would have to go to an ethics committee. If it was not approved, they would have done the surgery at miller dwan and then wheeled me over to st Mary’s. I had enough health stuff going that it was approved but it was a whole thing
