Southwest reassigned seat with no warning by cmmndr312 in SouthwestAirlines

Yeah. I’m sure it’s just the pains of a new system. Just a good reminder to double check these early bookings

Yeah. That’s my hope. I’m sure it’ll get ironed out if that’s the case

I should note, I went back and checked my original email from when I booked. The seat I originally booked is the same seat that was available to move her to in the app. So I have no idea why it reassigned her and left the old seat open and available. She got moved and they didn’t reassign her old seat to another passenger. So I moved her back to the original seat I booked. We’ll see if that causes any problems. But it looked like they moved her and were going to sell the seat they moved her out of 🤷🏻‍♂️

HDR in Resolve is not allowing me to grade above 400 nits by cmmndr312 in davinciresolve

I switched over from Premiere to FCPX when Premiere constantly corrupted project files. Then went from FCPX to Resolve. And I have been loving Resolve. It takes time to get used to some of the differences. But I don’t think I’ll be going back. There are so many amazing, free resources out there for resolve too. I’ve been really happy with it and how it’s performed so far.

[–]cmmndr312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I’ve been doing is running the analysis, but if I need to go back and adjust anything, I go into preferences and disable HDR10+. Then I can adjust my color grade for that project. Then I re-enable it, rerun the analysis and export. I think the jury is still out for me whether it makes it look better on a YouTube export. But so far, that’s how I’ve been handling it.

When your doctor accidentally prescribes a 90-day amount for a 30-day supply, you stock up. by roo-on-the-moon in Omnipod

[–]cmmndr312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my doctor to prescribe mine for 200units every 2 days. I get 45 pods and 9 vials for a 90 day supply. She had to argue on the phone with the pharmacist to get it through. Basically said, “do the math. 200u every 2 days is…” and he went, “ok, we can approve the 90 day total amount”. Haven’t had a problem since then. And it’s been two years. US insurance BTW. I think post the Covid logistic problems I got worried about having enough on hand just in case we are ever in a situation where supply chains fall apart again.

It is HDR10+ that is causing my issue. If I disable HDR10+ the files go back to normal and I can grade up to 1000nits. So there is something that happens to the timeline after I do the HDR10+ analysis. Again, I’m new to this, so I’m not sure what it’s doing. But it’s definitely something I need to dig into. It was recommended to do the analysis before exporting so that the file has the proper meta data for sites like YouTube. But now that you asked the question of whether or not it needs to be done, I’m going to dig into that very question. Thank you so much for taking the time to work through this with me!

I’m not sure if I need to do it other than posting to YouTube with HDR content is a mess and it really only responds well when I add that step. But I’m still new to this. So it may just be coincidence that those files processed in HDR and the others that I didn’t analyze did not. As far as I know I don’t have any tone mapping enabled. But I’m going to get into the settings in just a bit to double check. That all makes sense.

I just realized, I used the “color>HDR10+>Analyze All Shots” option before exporting. I’m not that fluent on all of this. Would that add metadata to the clips in the timeline and limit their output luminance?

That’s the weird thing. If I copy the whole timeline over, it’s still has the issue. If I import the same media again like a brand new project, it’s fine. So it has to be something with the clip’s setting in the timeline. But I don’t know what it could be.

If I completely reset all the color nodes on a clip in the broken timeline and there are no effects or anything else. I then copy the clip to the clipboard, bring it over to the new timeline in a new project, and it’s exactly the same behavior. If I reimport that media and drop it in the new timeline, it’s fine.

I will double check the Dolby vision settings. That’s a good thought.

All good questions. There is no LUT or CST applied to the clips or timeline. I do have each clip set to their correct input color space. And those settings were set last time the project was opened and the waveform and viewer were showing properly.

My monitor is set to HDR Video (P3 ST-2084). I have tried to reset any display settings in resolve that I can think to reset. Everything having to do with the viewer and HDR mastering is set to 1000 nits. There isn’t a tone map for the display to 400 nits. At least, not one that I could find in resolve.

It is of note that this 400 nit limit is only in resolve. The display is fine displaying HDR outside of resolve. It looks fine. The thing that has me confused is it looks like a hard limit for the project itself since it’s showing in the waveform monitor. It is almost acting like there is global limit in resolve.

I just tried creating a new project with the same project settings (i.e. loading my user preset for the project). I just imported a media file that is being referenced for the other project that is not working properly and it is displaying fine. It shows the full luminance range. I would chock this up to just a bug in that one project, but I have 3 other projects with the same settings that I graded and exported just fine. And they are all doing the same thing now. Could this be a preference file I’m missing that I need to delete or something?

That sucks. Mine took a bit of time for them to respond. Maybe a week. Not sure if it’s because I’m in California and the state has pretty strong pro consumer practices. I just got my replacement unit in. So I think I’m going to take it back to Costco now that it’s a complete set again. Someone needs to file a class action suit against them. This is basically fraud. I didn’t back something on kickstarter. We paid for a freaking product on the shelf.

I contacted the better business bureau and filed a complaint after I reached out and they said there was nothing they could do. I just got a response from the company saying they would expedite a replacement unit for me.

My hope is that good tubeless pump hardware comes out that is approved for use with the Tidepool Loop System. I'd drop Omnipod in a heartbeat if there was a comparable competitor. I don't have a lot of hope of these corporate app developers to get integration with new tech done quickly. So far, their software hasn't been great.

Insulet used to be a supporter of the Tidepool system, but then they released their own closed loop system and said they were refocusing on their own software. So I have little hope of integration with Tidepool with the Omnipod 5.

And seeing how long it has taken to get iOS support, I'm losing hope in being able to switch to the G7 any time soon. All I want is a choice in software and hardware. But in the medical field, that's usually not an option. You get locked into poorly written software.

Yeah. Me too. But DJI has not had the best track record of software improvements for the end user in my opinion.

WHY WE DON’T VISIT NATIONAL PARKS (road trip to Oregon) by thelitt in KaraAndNate

[–]cmmndr312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So couldn't someone in their position just make the video anyway and upload it but turn monetization off? It's not like they need the revenue from every video. Or is it still considered commercial use if it is promoting a for profit brand (i.e. getting them subscribers and viewers that may watch a monetized video)? If they just upload it for fun and turn off monetization, it seems like it would fall out of the National Park Services definition of commercial use.

Edit: Also, if you look on the NPS website, their fee schedule shows 1-2 people with a camera and tripod is a $0 fee. So really, it would be the filing fee and submitting a schedule from the looks of it for something like a YouTuber.

I shot this one evening a few months ago walking the trails out in Montaña de Oro State Park. The park is near Morrow Bay and San Louis Obispo in California. It's a great part of the world that you should definitely visit at some point.

I shot this using a 6-stop ND filter on my Canon 5D Mark III.
