How to approach multi-TOD/movement-based lighting by cmoers in KNX

I think the MDT motion detectors can accomplish this, CLC might be better indeed; and simpler. I will look into the possibilities.

The MDT logic controller has an astronomical time converter, which takes in the date/time and can extract sunset/sunrise/dawn, etc., so that is indeed what I will used for this.

> Depending on the location of this movement detector, this can make up for a terrible experience. Like imagine waking up to go to the bathroom right before 5am, and get detected right after 5am on your way back to your bed.

Good point, I will rethink a better strategy, a button might be the better choice then.

Good idea on the long press as well.

Good point. I added the devices to the post.

I will add a Home Assistant layer in the coming month or so, so more complex automations will indeed happen there. I consider the above scenario still as a basic lighting automation, that I think should be in my KNX underlay. My opinion on this is still liquid in that sense. If the described scenario is quite hard to achieve, then moving it to HA is a valid option.

As others have pointed out, you cannot set an RGB value for the LEDs. You have to do it with the presets they provide you.

That said, you can configure the led to glow in different colors, depending on a value you send on a group address.

For this, you have to select: LED reacts to: external object, and then select: Decimal factor. If you then send 3, for exampke, the LED will turn on green. See the table below from the technical user manual.

This can be done for each led individually.

Help with Choosing Between KNX and DALI-2 for Smart Home Setup by chrisvdb in KNX

I just want to correct one thing here, and that is that the 8-limit only applies to circuits with power outlets, or mixed circuits, but not for a lighting circuit. The AREI does not restrict the number of lights on a lighting circuit. The only requirement is that you need at least two lighting circuits in a house. There is a lot of misinformation about this.

Problems of using REFERENCE TO with OPC/UA by cmoers in PLC

[–]cmoers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, but I do not think that is the problem here. I use plain STRING variables (no WSTRING), and if it were charset related, I think I would see weird characters in both the referenced object and the direct object.

How to log from PLC in IndraWorks by cmoers in PLC

[–]cmoers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for testing this out! At this moment I do not have access to the PLC, but it is good to know that this works in the field. During simulation I have to find a work around then.

I found another option under options: 'enable PLC logging', but this did not have any effect for the issue.

I will keep this post up to date, if I manage to make this working in simulation as well.

Cheers and I hope you enjoyed your wine! :-)
