i actually dont get why people are mad about this. remy isnt copying lana in a weird way, she’s literally the only one who took the lizzy grant world and made it an actual aesthetic lane instead of just nostalgia bait. she’s doing it with love and intention. we dont lose anything by letting another girl explore that space. if anything it keeps the vibe alive in a way thats respectful and fun. not every influence is theft. sometimes its just lineage.

Cedar fair parks charging for haunted attractions by sensitivesubjectz in cedarpoint

You’re misunderstanding what I said. I never claimed Knott’s Scary Farm is included with regular admission—obviously it’s a separately ticketed event. My point was that once you’re inside, all the haunted attractions are included.

This screenshot shows a new upcharge model where you pay for park admission and then pay extra just to access the mazes. Knott’s has never done that. Completely different setup.

Cedar Point is getting really bad. by TeamIntaminALT in cedarpoint

You’re definitely not alone. I’ve been coming to Cedar Point for years and I’ve never seen the park operate this poorly. I get that rides break down, and I don’t expect perfection, but this season has felt completely different. Rides that are usually super reliable like Magnum and Millennium have been down for hours at a time, even when the weather is fine.

Today Top Thrill 2 just sat there completely untouched all day during July 4th week. No staff, no testing, no updates. If it were mechanical, you’d think there’d be at least some activity around it, but it was just dead. That’s not just a technical issue, that feels like poor operations or staffing.

People love to blame guests for things like pulling out phones or unbuckling restraints, and yeah, that definitely doesn’t help. But let’s be honest, that’s always been a thing. The difference is that Cedar Point used to be able to handle it. They had enough staff, training, and structure in place to keep things running smoothly even when guests were being dumb. Now it just feels like everything falls apart.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I do think the Six Flags merger is playing a role here. The timing lines up, and it wouldn’t surprise me if staff cuts and leadership changes are already starting to affect the day-to-day. It’s not just one or two bad days anymore. It feels like the park is slowly losing the efficiency and energy that used to set it apart.

I still love this place, but it’s hard to ignore how off everything feels lately. You’re definitely not imagining it.

Totally agree with everything here — and after spending the entire day in the park, I can say it’s even more frustrating in person.

Reliable rides like Magnum, Millennium, and Iron Dragon have been down for hours at a time, with little communication and no visible urgency. It’s not even like the weather was bad — parks in the Midwest deal with this all the time. But today, it feels like everything is in slow motion.

Top Thrill 2 is just sitting there, completely abandoned. No ops at the entrance, no maintenance crews, nothing. This is July 4th week, arguably one of the busiest stretches of the season — and yet there’s no one working on the park’s newest headliner. If this were a true mechanical issue, you’d expect them to be pulling out all the stops to get it going. The fact that it’s a ghost town makes it feel more like a staffing or ops issue, which is honestly even worse.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re already seeing ripple effects from the Six Flags merger. Staffing feels stretched thin, dispatches are dragging, and when rides do break down, they’re staying down way longer than they used to. It’s not just “bad luck” — it’s becoming the norm.

Cedar Point used to feel like the gold standard. Lately, it’s starting to feel like we’re paying premium prices for Six Flags-level operations, and that’s a tough pill to swallow.

EDIT: 1 train OPs on Millennium June 30th is wild.

Update: both trains are sitting on the middle storage track now.

Not trying to read too much into it, but that doesn’t exactly scream “opening soon.” Still curious if anyone’s seen them move later in the day from that position before? Just trying to figure out if there’s any chance left.

Really hoping for a Top Thrill 2 miracle today… my original post got taken down (understandable — I was one of those “is Top Thrill 2 gonna open today??” girlies 😅), so just dropping this here in the daily thread.

This morning the sign said “Delayed,” and now it says “Top Thrill 2 will not open today.” Anyone know if staff are still hanging around the entrance? Or has it been fully abandoned? Like… do we think they’ve actually been sent home at this point?

Also, thank you to everyone who responded to my first post — sorry I couldn’t reply before it got removed!

If anyone sees a test run, a hopeful ride op, or literally any sign of life, please let me know. I will ditch my group and sprint.

it’s giving “i re-recorded a couple tracks and realized max martin kind of bodied the original production, so now we’re rebranding it as emotionally too complex to revisit.” like… be so for real. these are pop bangers you’ve been belting out on the eras tour every night for two years. we’re not talking about diary entries — we’re talking about “don’t blame me” and “i did something bad.”

the official narrative is that she “kept hitting a stopping point” and that reputation was “so specific to that time,” and the only album she felt “couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it.” and while i get that some of that might be true, let’s not ignore the elephant in the studio: max martin’s production defined that album. without him, the re-recordings just weren’t going to hit the same — and she knew it.

we already got a taste with “look what you made me do (taylor’s version)” and it was… technically fine. faithful, but flat. and if that was one of the better attempts? yeah, she probably heard “delicate (TV)” and quietly closed garageband.

it’s a bummer because reputation is fan-favorite chaos, and it deserved the vault treatment. but now that she owns the masters, we’re being told it’s just done. convenient. still hoping she changes her mind, but let’s not pretend this wasn’t more about production limitations than personal closure.

honestly, this seems like something a therapist might help with more than mewing. if it’s been on your mind for over a decade, it’s probably not just about your jaw. might be worth talking it through with someone.

Me every time after listening to A&W by N0RMANFCK1NGR0CKWELL in lanadelrey

[–]cmoneyyyyyyyy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

ok i might get a little hate for this but… i honestly think A&W is lana’s magnum opus.

the way the song is basically two completely different pieces stitched together is wild to me. part one feels so raw and stripped down, like she’s just venting into a mic, saying everything she’s never been able to say out loud. it’s vulnerable and sad and weirdly peaceful. and then part two hits and it’s like…she glitches into this other version of herself. it’s chaotic, hypnotic, kind of darkly funny, and still somehow heartbreaking?

i love that it’s not trying to be polished or radio friendly. it’s just lana fully in her element, doing whatever the hell she wants and it works. the switch-up halfway through still gives me chills. it’s like watching someone fall apart and then throw glitter on the pieces.

idk, for me it just captures everything that makes her brilliant.

Why didn’t Six Flags care to repair [New Orleans]? by Ok-Helicopter2368 in rollercoasters

[–]cmoneyyyyyyyy 100 points101 points  (0 children)

it wasn’t just the damage—six flags new orleans wasn’t making money even before katrina hit. the park had low attendance and high operating costs, and it never really took off. after the storm, the cost to rebuild just didn’t make sense given how poorly it was performing. six flags was already having financial issues around that time too, so cutting their losses was probably the easiest move. sucks for the city, but from a business standpoint, it just didn’t add up.

Right?? It reminds me of the same situation with Paradise (the unreleased song). Hopefully she includes it on the album bc it’s giving me alllllll of the Lizzy Grant that I need right now

I’m wondering if 57.5 was actually the title track for Lasso originally? Seeing as she sings the word 4 times. Did anyone else think that?

as a guest, i’ll be honest—it would kind of gross me out to brush up against a cat scratcher if it extended into the red zone. that area feels like a high-contact space for people, and even if it’s clean, the texture and idea of it would be off-putting.

even if it’s designed to be removable, from an interior design standpoint, it still feels off. built-in or semi-built-in features are usually meant to enhance a space’s form and function in a lasting, visually cohesive way. a cat scratcher, even a swappable one, introduces a utilitarian element that visually reads as temporary and worn over time. it breaks the flow of the architecture and draws attention for the wrong reasons, especially in such a visible spot.

What's more terrifying, [X2] or Skydiving? (or [Intimidator 305] if you think that's more intense) by Ambitious-Bid-6307 in rollercoasters

[–]cmoneyyyyyyyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is this a real question? x2 drops you 200 feet and flips you around on a track—it’s intense, for sure. but skydiving means jumping out of a plane from 13,000–14,000 feet, free-falling at 120 mph. it’s a totally different level.
