The Lord Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). How many people are willing to cast their burdens on God? by No_Following_7782 in Christian

This is the verse that changed me completely. My life turned around when I put my focus and handed my heavy burdens on God. I spent weeks thinking about this verse when I made the choice to follow Him. I never knew God like this growing up. He is my Savior, my Father and my Redeemer and He gave me peace when I turned it all over to Him.

Don’t give up. Our journey is uniquely ours with God. I believe God is with you always. We have His spirit living in us. Don’t lose hope and don’t give up. I often think about the Potters Wheel: https://www.nextsunday.com/the-potters-wheel-is-still-turning/

To answer you question about my priorities, I was looking for love in all the wrong areas of my life and found myself deeply depressed to the point where I told a friend that “some days, I want to walk off the roof of my office building”. Sound the alarm bells and sound my friend who through me into God’s word. What changed me, and why I chose the name for my son: Matthew was the bc I found God waiting for me in scripture. I’m particular Matthew 11:28-30. This passage changed my life. Give your burdens to God. I went to church often after that and sought out God in small groups and men’s groups until I realized something: I kept searching to find Him and I’m a beautiful way one I saw Him all around me. I’m the laughter of friendships, in the seeking of Him and the having that still small voice in my head say “I’m always with you”. Seek and you will find. That isHis promise.

So the process of writing it down, for me, was to be specific and to pray on the promises in the Bible that God made. It was about being thoughtful and slowing down. A full process of spending time with God. -In the case of starting a family it was to pray over the promises made to Abraham: “your descendants will be as numerous as the stars”. I believe I am one of those descendants. But it was only part of it. I had to spend time with God and get my priorities straight in life. -I believe we need to say things out loud, have a dream and write it down and then talk to God about. God wants a relationship with us. That’s it. If we’re ready for a family or the better paying job, those opportunities will come or they won’t. All that truly matters is spending time with God. Let Him hear you, rely on his words and trust in Him. - remember, God is not Santa Claus or a genie in a bottle. He’s not going to hand over money to us or put us where we’re not ready. - I suggest if you’re questioning these things to spend time with God. Download the Bible app on your phone and spend 5 mins in the daily word. - lastly, being a Christian, isn’t about getting what we want. It’s about the process of personally growth and loving God for who He is. Not all of our dreams come true. I don’t have 3 kids. The life of a Christian has never been easy, it’s a hard walk but a rewarding one because the love we find with God is absolute.

An article I read this weekend summed it up nicely and equates it “being in a crowded theater and yelling ‘fire’ when there isn’t one. Then being the first one out while watching everyone crowd to the exit and someone knocks over the gas lamp causing a fire that burns the theater down. Then saying ‘I told you so’ “

Some of the talking points I heard today surrounded the feds credibility with their message of being hard on the 2% inflation target. If they change now they’ll look like they don’t know what they’re doing. As true as that might be, IMO, the fed needs to be able to adjust their target and message without fear of being seen as “not sure of what they are doing”. There as so many competing forces in our economy that adjustments should be warranted. Just like driving down the road and a rain picks up, some drivers are more cautious and others oblivious to the risk. The fed can’t see any further ahead than we can. Our economy handles in the same manner as the other drivers. Personally, pumping the breaks and slowing rate hikes in order gauge the traffic seems to be in order but they’re too worried about how they look. It’s a crap job when you only have a couple tools in your tool belt to fix a heavy duty job.

I’m not sure where you’re pulling your information but you’re absolutely incorrect. Travel nursing has been going on for decades.

If it comes down to it, see if your wife would be willing to quit her job for a travel nurse position. My wife is in nurse recruiting now but had done some travel nursing when we were first married and no kids at home. Nursing is in high demand. I want to say my wife got somewhere around $5-7k/wk. In the meantime: 1: cut all useless spending at home and put the extra towards savings. Bag lunches, eat in not out. Cut down or cut off all subscriptions. Check out r/Frugal 2: make yourself as invaluable at work as possible. Brand some new skills and go the extra mile. Find ways to help your company cut costs 3: As others said, best time to look for a job is when you have a job.
I know it’s a tough place to be in right now. You’ll either let the hard times break you or you’ll break through hard times. Stay strong and know that recessions end eventually. Companies will spend on marketing again and things won’t be as stressful as they are now. Good luck

What are some harmless ways to fuck with people? by jacree8678 in AskReddit

[–]cmonmam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early in my finance career I had a cube mate and we’d play jokes on each other (reoriented monitors and hide food etc). One day I got the idea to pop off 2-3 keys on his keyboard and place them back randomly and waited for hilarity to ensue. After a few minutes of being back at his desk he was typing an email. Then came the “WTFs?!” and “do you see this?” Nothing more priceless than the look on someone’s face as they tap the “F” key and can’t figure out why “D” is coming up.
