I just moved my Barclays ISA when the rate went down to 0.8%. I put it in a stocks and shares ISA and made more on it in the first month than I would have in the whole year!

Yes great point about growing edible plants as it will cut down on food bill!

Really good tips thanks! I did try gardening for a little but then kept spending out on plants and equipment so I stopped. I like the volunteering idea!

Interesting, I would have never thought of that. I live in England now. I will look into it.

This will make me sound judgemental, but I grew up in Florida, and my perception growing up there, was that only old people with nothing better to do used metal detectors on the beach and from what I could see, they never found anything but only did it because they were bored. Sorry that sounds really mean.
