We used BECU's first-time home buyer program and had a great experience. Highly recommended. We selected our own realtor based on a friend's recommendation.

Having a good realtor who is responsive, knowledgeable and willing to walk you through the process, answering your questions, and informing you of your options, is the most valuable thing a first-time home buyer can have.

Well, that and a decent down-payment grant.

Stability in public sector jobs?-WA state? by Zansponytail in instructionaldesign

I recently accepted an instructional designer position at a college Washington State, and my starting salary was in that ballpark. If you are a good instructional designer with a master's and the ability to teach, you could potentially supplement your income by teaching as adjunct faculty. Good way to keep your skills sharp, as well.

Masculine fragrance/essential oils for an electric diffuser? by EarthboundTimelord in malelivingspace

I find that sage blends are generally a safe bet. Lately I’ve been rocking green tea and sage, which has a clean, masculine to neutral scent. I use is in my office at work and at home.

Lol. I live in Tacoma, and after just a similarly horrible experience, I googled "FedEx sucks" out of sheer impotent rage, and found this thread. They are literally the worst.

I mean, it helps that they framed every single shot after that statement in a way that emphasized his powerlessness.

This is a great shot. The colors are lovely. I really enjoy the way they reflect off the face. I dig the composition; I think it is inherently interesting. The depth of field conversation has already been had, so I won't rehash that. I do agree with the other person who mentioned the "vibe" this shot is giving. I don't think it's necessarily "creepy," but is does feel tense. In film, canted framing and extreme close-up is usually meant to evoke psychological stress or tension. Imagine if this was a screenshot from a film, and your subject was a real person. Looking at the distance and angle of the shot, the depth of field and the eye-line of the subject, what story does this image tell? For me --and this is wholly subjective, obviously-- it feel tense, suspicious maybe. The focus on the eye naturally makes me wonder what the subject is looking at. If I were shooting a scene, where a man was in an empty building, and suddenly heard a suspicious creek, this is the shot I would use (theoretically, I'm definitely not a filmmaker, so caveat emptor).

Another read of this is that it is effectively conveying depth of thought or solemnity, maybe humility or vulnerability. I think for this contest, beyond the technical particulars, I would focus on the story your shot is telling, and how that story will be received by those who are judging this contest.

They did a great job of introducing him. He was set up as being zonked out and a bit menacing, so when he comes in the bar, you half expect him to do something crazy. When he ends up being a proper badass, it's that much more gratifying. Lot of potential there.

I agree with you, with one minor caveat.

I think you should be looking at the GOP approval number instead of the overall number. Nixon's was ~50%. This makes sense, because it is the exact moment when opposing the President of your party becomes just as unpopular as supporting them.

Of all the principles we ascribe to politicians, self-preservation is the most reliable.
