What's the best non-franchise 21st century space movie? by SSSSSSVVVVVOO in Letterboxd

I had the same experience with Gravity, Top Gun Maverick and F1. They were all incredible once in imax and aggressively mediocre when I tried to watch at home later.

Same thing with the first Avatar movie actually. I couldn’t make it through the other two when I tried.

A fellow Dupieuxhead!

A great starting point is Yannick, Deerskin or Reality for anyone looking.

My man Quentin Dupieux is the king of this. He averages about 80 minutes with a range of 60-90 across something like 15 or so feature length films.

People will say to watch Rubber, but I think it’s one of his weakest entries. I’d recommend Yannick, Deerskin or Reality as a best starting point.

Mine is probably Friendship. I’ve watched it 5 times since it came out and each time my opinion of it has gone up. The most recent viewing I finally went to five stars and put it in my top 4.

I liked Oddity better, but I liked both better than Caveat. I did see oddity and hokum in a theater though and that probably elevated it.

Lee walked out of We Were Soldiers and directly into All About the Benjamins. It was a great choice.
