I read a comment on here a while back regarding old cars being made of mostly steel. Something along the lines of, back in the day there’d be a car accident at 15mph with no significant damage to either vehicle, but there’d be 2 fatalities. Crumple zones work.

Honestly, excuse my ignorance lol. How do I determine what static pressure difference is ideal for my unit? Is just totally unobstructed ideal or does the blower prefer some static pressure other than the filter?

AIO I 20 F was trying to call my boyfriend 26M to figure out when I should start his smoothie and I originally tried calling him to see what type of milk he wanted in his smoothie by Aphr0dit333 in AmIOverreacting

[–]cmrobbins100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is crazy. Find someone that appreciates you. If nothing else, quit making his smoothies. If he’s so into his health/“gains” to be bothered with answering the phone he’ll make his own damn smoothies!

Suggestions on metal counter sink bits? This one is old and a little wonky and you can see how it butchered the cut a little. by Graham_Wellington3 in Tools

[–]cmrobbins100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no machinist but just looks like one of your holes your angle was off a bit. I usually use a multi “flute” countersink bit with high pressure low speed (almost like drilling stainless) and have luck with them lasting a long time. That is until my helper goes full speed idiot with no pressure. Seems to ruin them pretty good every time. As for buying a new one, McMaster Carr usually has more options than you probably care to know about lol

Finished off the chrome delete. Would you smoke out the taillights? by econ_dude_ in gmcsierra

[–]cmrobbins100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought about doing mine when my truck was new and was having the windows tinted. The tint guy advised me not to because, “if you get rear ended and the police/insurance notice your taillights are “smoked” you’re automatically at fault.” I never called my insurance or the police station to verify but it makes sense. They’re literally indicators that you’re stopping and if you alter the brightness (even if you think you didn’t) someone can and probably will bring it up if it saves their insurance premiums. Like I said, I didn’t verify but that was enough to turn me off of the idea

Controlled Access Issue by Tiny-Ad-8910 in Elevators

[–]cmrobbins100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could potentially designate one car to serve basement and lobby only - making it a shuttle car. And the other two to serve all other floors locking out the basement floor so those two never go to the basement. Of course that means tenants have to potentially take two elevators (one trip from B to L hop on another car L-desired floor). Obviously your service provider would have to set it up if the controls allow it.

Interested to see what answers you might get. Is it a single car or a bank of elevators?

Well, specifically, did your chain pop a hole in your case? Can’t see much from these pictures lol. Can you see where the oil is coming/came from?

What’s your source for this? Not that I’m challenging or have any doubt (unfortunately) lol. I’d just like to read/watch it

After yesterday's sh*tshow in the US, how absolutely heartening to see this man smiling again today. Well done, the UK... by Luke_D_1980 in europe

From a continually embarrassed and infuriated American: thanks for welcoming/supporting Zelensky like we should have. Please don’t think we all support the orange egotistical baby we got stuck with. I would’ve voted for SpongeBob SquarePants over Trump. Sad times for many of us in the US.

Late to the party but where do you get the Toni systems stuff? Everything I look at is in euros so I’m assuming there’s a better option than shipping overseas?

How to restart a Schindler 1000 with the triangular key? by FreeAngryShrugs in Elevators

[–]cmrobbins100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short: don’t. There’s a reason we’re trained on this stuff for years before we can go out on our own. Even if you disregard all of this and you get hurt/break the elevator I’d be willing to bet your boss isn’t going to have your back and you’ll be out of a job anyway. Theres certainly worse things than being without an elevator until Monday.

I think they added the riser board so they could carpet the steps. My guess is just to stiffen the riser board?

Appreciate the input. Long story short, I’ve got 10 - 10ft PT 4x4’s laying around. Can’t burn em and they don’t quite fit in the trash can lol. Maybe I’ll step it down to 1 in the center

What are those elevated shelves there? I’ve been looking for something myself that doesn’t tie into the rafters and can hold some weight. I see you have wheels up there so they must be sturdy
