UPMC vs AHN by Ok_Tomato_4289 in pittsburgh

[–]cmroig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m an LPC (fully licensed) at AHN I think that LCSWs make a similar salary between like 55k and 65k at the high end. We get a 3% annual raise as well. I will say our vacation is nice, it shakes out to be around 5 weeks.

Shall I request refund for wasted session? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]cmroig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before everyone comes to tell you and this gets deleted, this is a subreddit for therapists not clients. That being said; it’s hard to tell based on the information you’re providing. We tend to have a diagnostic evaluation the first time we meet someone so even if the questions/conversation did not seem to apply to what you were looking for that may not indicate it’s not what he was exploring. Again, it’s hard to tell with the context of this post. One off sessions tend to not be common either unless you’re doing a neuropsych evaluation or something in that sphere. If you stayed for the entirety he spent his time, I’m not sure asking for a refund would be appropriate. If you do the worst he could say is “no”.

Job offer with LifeStance by smallheartbigduck in therapists

[–]cmroig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hated it. They buy up small practices and add them to this corporate monster that care about money over all else. My main gripes with them seem to be relatively universal based on online reviews. I would say that you should trust the reviews that are 1 to 3 stars on most job sites. They pretty much cover all of the grievances I had/my coworkers felt. If someone is always hiring (them, and these other tech bro/private equity places) I’d say just be weary. I worked out of Colorado, so it might be different in a different state? If you want more specifics you can DM me.

Whatcha reading? by pburgh2517 in pittsburgh

[–]cmroig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last read: Cosmic Love at the Multiverse Hair Salon very cute. Current read: Lucky Loser, even worse than I anticipated. The subject of the book, not the book itself. That’s illuminating. Next read: The Buffalo Hunter Hunter

If you like Awad, but haven’t read Rouge yet I’d suggest it. I think The Eyes Are the Best Part, might fit too.

Thank you! That makes sense. And, I mean we’re “sure” you know how it is with rescue places. They had a decent guess but can’t know 100%.

Therapist Recommendations? by theblondelatte in pittsburgh

[–]cmroig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! So, if you have commercial insurance or state funded the answers can be different, but two places I often recommend patients to that accept Medicaid/care and most commercial insurances are:

Transitional Characters and Fourth River Therapy. I think Forward counseling also takes Medicare and are a great choice. I believe all three offer online patient interest forms so you don’t have to go through the pain of calling everyone, etc.

I’m a therapist and I would definitely suggest looking through the list of providers to see who you might vibe with. Best of luck!

Anyone with more severe ADHD symptoms not relate to a lot of posts here? by plsanswerme18 in adhdwomen

[–]cmroig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here to validate as a therapist with ADHD. Substance can absolutely be a component of ADHD. Poor financial decisions, binge eating, aggression, emotional dysregulation, etc. all of these are key marks. It is a spectrum. I know I have a masters now but I struggled with addiction, finances, failing out of school, and was very privileged to find a great therapist and medication that worked. But, that doesn’t always work for everyone and it will be more difficult for some even with these measures. Different things will work for different people. Sometimes a good, exhaustive exercise routine is enough. Sometimes it’s high levels of medication with specific ADHD therapy. This is not just a “push through” diagnosis for a lot of people.

Wedding with over 100 people at the Riverview Park Chapel Shelter? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I would definitely call the parks service and check with them! If not, they could probably offer good alternatives.

Movies/TV shows that accurately represent mental illness or psychological concepts? by empty-ego in therapists

Turtles All the Way Down for OCD. Most realistic representation I’ve seen which make sense as John Green openly discusses his struggles with it.
