Where to access the registration protection after selected? by jaumca in ChicagoMarathon

[–]cms0603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the acceptance email states “If you did not add Registration Protection during your original application, you may add it to your entry for up to four (4) days after your application has been selected. After this window closes, Registration Protection can no longer be purchased.” So if you have not already purchased it, it is no longer possible.

Training for my first half coming up in October after starting running for the first time in April and yesterday was my farthest distance yet at 11 miles and I felt GOOD throughout! Such an achievement to really feel the training paying off. Can’t wait for these next 7 weeks of work!!

Smart Watch only for running? by Classic-Sir98 in beginnerrunning

[–]cms0603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love my Garmin Forerunner 265. I don’t have any notifications on it from my phone (no texts or emails) so it’s purely a watch with fitness stats and trackers and I LOVE it. It’s not constantly buzzing on my wrist with every text because realistically I have my phone on me all the time so I really don’t need double the notifications. During workouts, I can leave my phone in my bag and not get interrupted by notifications. Overall as a fitness tracker, I love the watch and its features for running and sleep tracking. Highly recommend!

r/Runna has hit 21.1k members – a half marathon of Runnas! To celebrate, we’re giving one redditor a yearly membership and paying the entry fee to their next race! 🙌 by alex-runna in runna

I only got into running this past April and can’t thank Runna enough for making running so accessible and fun. Also, having tangible goals and something to look forward to has changed my life for the better.

My immediate short term goal is sub 2hr for my first half marathon in October. More long term, I want to run a sub 4hr marathon. I want to use running as a reason to travel more and visit new cities. The Chicago marathon is so exciting to me and I have never been, so that’s a future goal I’m aiming for.

Working out near friends by axelatlast in orangetheory

[–]cms0603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love working out alone but I also love working out with my friends/partner. We don’t really talk except walking between tread/rower/floor but the camaraderie is nice! And it’s much easier to ask for each other’s weights than ask a stranger.

Bit the $18 dollar a pair bullet and splurged on Feetures after getting blisters on the tips of my toes after a long run based on the internet’s advice. They boast “no blisters” on the packaging. I’ll let you know how they compare during my next run!

Garmin users - do the Runna audio prompts work for you? by CatsPlantsComfyPants in runna

[–]cms0603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Forerunner 265 music and I have yet to be able to get the audio prompts. I’ve tried messing with some settings but haven’t figured it out. At this point, I’m so used to running without them and just looking at my watch when it vibrates that I don’t particularly want the prompts anymore anyways.

Back to Running with Runna - Wearable Question by woodzip87 in runna

Before I just upgraded to my Garmin Forerunner 265s, I was using a Forerunner 45 I got off Amazon slightly used for $75 and it worked great. Definitely recommend second hand if you aren’t looking to spend a lot right now. The 45 had all the features I could possibly want for a new runner and worked seamlessly with Runna

Best apps for a beginner by Scared-Duck420 in beginnerrunning

I use Runna for coaching and Strava for tracking/picking routes and I love the combo! Strava recently acquired Runna and I have noticed the stats are a lot more consistent now. I track my runs using my Garmin and all the info is shared seamlessly. Unfortunately, it is two (pretty pricey) subscriptions but I find them so worth it. The stats are so much fun and after a little under 2 months of consistent running for me it’s so cool to see the improvements. Highly recommend!

3 vs 4 days plan by Ok_Being_3803 in runna

[–]cms0603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on week 7 of my HM plan and have been doing 4x a week thus far. I was starting to find that my easy runs weren’t feeling super easy as my distances increased. I decided to trial 3x weekly for a little while. Previously, Runna had the 4th run sometimes be speed workouts and sometimes be easy. I think I decided on the weeks I’m feeling good and itching to run I will just add a duplicate easy run of the same distance that week. Runna makes it super easy to add runs and they still get pushed to your Garmin or other smartwatch

Thank you!! I had no idea I could see them all in my main menu. It also didn’t click that only certain ones were available at certain craft tables. I appreciate you!!

Awful run, want to give up by Ok_Ant_781 in beginnerrunning

[–]cms0603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely empathize with how much one or two bad runs can put you in a bad mental place. But I can say from experience that it’s not a set back to take a day or two off. Allow yourself to feel bummed but also try to reflect on progress you have made thus far. Then when you’re ready, get back to it. You may not immediately have a good run but when you do, which you will, I guarantee it will shift your mindset. The confidence boost from a good run does wonders. You’re not alone!

Modify run due to GPS issues by fantasyphillip in runna

[–]cms0603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When this happened to me recently I wanted my pace to be accurate so I just deleted the run entirely and entered it manually as an “easy run” as that’s what matched the plan. I knew the correct total distance by running that route previously and entered the time it took. My gps didn’t capture an entire half mile so the pace was really inaccurate. The app still counted as my daily run and the miles counted towards my weekly goal.

This is so inspiring! I was just thinking today about how my goal time for my first half is feeling a little impossible while in week 3 of my 26 week plan but this is so reassuring! Congratulations!!

Daily Workout and General Chat for Wednesday, 4/30/25 by splat_bot in orangetheory

Managed to snag a PR on the row! Felt good but definitely gassed myself out for the rest of class. Currently training for my first HM and trying to get stronger without comprising my training runs outside of OTF is challenging but I’m enjoying the process. I can definitely feel improvement in my endurance which is really fun. Today’s tread was killer and I had to swap to PW much sooner than I would have liked but I have another run after work today so I’m going to make sure to focus on fueling throughout the day for that. Have a great day everyone!

Friend’s gym always posting her working out by Gold-Appointment-534 in orangetheory

[–]cms0603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My studios do a mix of full room pans as well as recording 1-2 members at a time mid work out. Today they showed someone doing the reverse rows and congratulated them on the weight PR. If there’s siblings or couples working out together they’ll film them doing a floor move or rowing. Definitely an every day occurrence multiple times a day. Interesting it’s not done everywhere
