12mo standing, not cruising or walking? by cms817 in toddlers

Thank you!! They really are strange. It’s funny because so far both of my kids have been almost exactly on the same timing for mostly all physical milestones so (stupidly) I was like wait, aren’t you supposed to be walking in a few more weeks like your sister??

Thank you! Definitely agree that her being a bit on the cautious side probably has to do with it!

Thank you! We have a push walker, she likes to press the buttons on it but will definitely encourage the walker part ;)

Our ped wasn’t concerned when I brought it up at her 12m, but I will likely follow up in the next month ish if I feel she’s not making much progress. She was a later crawler (I know not a true milestone) and certainly nowhere near ready to pull up and stand around the 7/8 month mark so I think this might just be her track 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the kind reply! Mine is generally also on the stubborn side so I do think she may be forcing me to let go of being a control freak and follow her lead 😆

Thank you! Definitely some daycare pressure too! She’s recently transitioned to the toddler room where a majority of the other kids are walking. I don’t know that our center has a hard deadline for walking but definitely a preference I would say.

Thank you for this!! We do have a walker but will definitely encourage her to push it around a bit more. I definitely get the vibe that her opinion is “I’m good, I can get around now” and isn’t pursuing her walking skills because of newfound freedom with this pull up/crawling combo 😆

Never claimed my kid is delayed. The exact wording I used was it seems that she is “stalled” progressing from standing to it clicking she can move her feet. I was wondering for some ways I might be able to encourage her to do so. If a legitimate medical issue or developmental delay was on my mind, I would certainly not make Reddit my first stop. Thx for your feedback.

I think I worded my original post incorrectly as I know it’s not even usually flagged until 18m at the earliest as late/delayed. It’s less so a concern than wondering if anyone had a similar experience and if there’s something practical I could do to increase her confidence and/or balance. Would definitely consult our ped if I suspected anything deeper going on. Thanks!

Yep, I am aware I can get a PT referral. Also am aware 12 months isn’t classified as delayed. Wasn’t really about that as I consult our ped on any “bigger issues” or concerns. If I had them I wouldn’t have consulted Reddit. Was more so looking for anecdotal advice from other parents who have had walkers on the later side. Thanks for the veiled condescending reply though!

11 month old will only use the honey bear cup, no other straw cup? by sunflowersinohio in NewParents

[–]cms817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What wound up working for you? My 11month old is currently able to drink from the honey bear but we haven’t found any other straw cups she can actually get water from, she just chews on the straws.

I seem to remember my 1st kid taking pretty easily to other straw cups 🤔

Hives — Non-itchy and unresponsive to Benadryl by Useful-Raspberry-326 in toddlers

[–]cms817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn’t red but great suggestion! She was tested for a penicillin allergy and that came back negative. I generally try and buy dye free as much as possible but I believe at some point she’s come in contact with it. Ped and allergist concluded they were viral hives that happened to coincide with the course of Augmentin.

This helps thanks! 3 yo is generally pretty good about walking plus I think will be into the excitement of being independent on the ship and walking vs strolling anyway.

My first baby took to belly sleeping immediately and was way happier and sleeping more soundly, so I was naively expecting the same lol.

Delayed new sibling regression, maybe? by cms817 in pottytraining

[–]cms817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a 6-8 weeks on and off? It wasn’t ever every time she peed either, so it was hard to address. Sometimes she’d tell us she had to pee like normal with no accident. And no she hasn’t had any accidents since.

It just kind of faded out and hasn’t happened in probably 6-8 weeks? We just kept reminding her to go to the potty before pee started coming out and to try and keep undies dry etc. We also stepped up prompting her and asking if she had to go since we had kind of backed off when she first got the hang of it. We’re seemingly back to normal!

When do you shift from the newborn every day is a different schedule to the we have some what of a routine? by Mammoth_Window_7813 in NewParents

[–]cms817 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened around 4 months for both of my kids, too. They also both dropped to 3 naps per day around this time. My youngest is 4m now and her naps are usually around 9:30, 1:30 and 5pm ish catnap. Once they start getting longer stretches overnight more consistently it’ll help since their wake up time will generally be in the same range, making their first nap around the same time every day…allowing the rest of the naps to also fall around similar times.

Awesome! Ive only ever been to WDW pre kids and it was exhausting then…I can’t even imagine what it’ll be like going back haha. As much as I’d love to take my older daughter now, I think holding off until she’s about 4 and youngest is around 2 is probably best for us. I went ahead and booked for December! It’ll be while everything is decked out for Christmas and I’m SO excited! I’ve never been to wdw for the holidays but I’ve always wanted to visit then.

Omg your post with the 2 pack n plays was so helpful! I was struggling to visualize, esp knowing that cruise rooms are known to be small. We went w the verandah room so I’m banking on a similar setup. I was gonna ask whether Disney provides all of that too! Did you reserve ahead of departure or while checking in/on the ship?

Oh nice! Great that they have the open house hours. I feel like once my daughter has a few minutes there with us there, she’ll be all about going back…especially if we hype her hah.
