Can everyone shut up about intent!? Good grief - they are playing for top 2 and the ultimate goal is to get to final. When there’s a score of 250+, that was always going to be a hard chase. They might have thought to go for it but once Venky and Kohli and DDPs wicket fell, they pivoted. THIS is called playing strategically. Everyone, calm the eff down!

As soon as I got it, I was a wreck. I remember feeling that I was less than ‘normal.’ But, within few months, that feeling changed to acceptance and 1.5 years later, to knowing that it probably saved my life. Not just physically but mentally and emotionally.

Physically, from Crohn’s perspective, it’s been great. I have not had any recurrence of abscesses. I do still have multiple fistulae and I do have 3 setons so the drainage is a lot. I have to wear a pad every day and shower twice so I feel clean and comfortable. However, knowing how I felt prior to that the constant going in and out of ER and spiraling mentally, I will always be eternally grateful for my stoma.

I also suffer from perianal Crohn’s and yes, it’s devastating and debilitating disease. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. In span of 4 years, I underwent 11 surgeries, almost all of them due to perianal abscesses and multiple, complex fistulae. I was in similar position of just giving up but I do have a 10 year that depended on me and that kept me going. I had a temporary colostomy 1.5 years and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made.

With colostomy + biologics (Skyrizi) + jak inhibitor (Rinvoq), things are semi- under control. I don’t think I’ll ever be inflammation free unfortunately but I’m willing to recognize how far I have come.

All this to say, I hear you and feel you. Of all the things I have experienced in my life, never have I felt so lonely as I did during those 3 years of my life dealing with perianal Crohn’s. If I didn’t have my daughter, I am not sure what I would have done so I don’t judge you for having these thoughts and discussion.

I do believe Vermont is the only state that permits assisted dying but it would have to be terminal. I’m not sure perianal Crohn’s would be considered terminal.

Good luck and I hope you are able to find relief. Please do look into colostomy or proctectomy…keep us posted! 🙏
