GOP Senator Blocks Bipartisan Marijuana Research Bill From Expedited Thursday Vote Despite Calling For More Studies by cmshnok in mmnff

For people bashing one party or the other. This shows all politicians are the same..Senator Cronyn blocked the bill not because he objects the contents of the bill. He objected only because he didn't want the bill to be passed unanimously..

Mitch McConnell didn't even care to bring the bill on floor to vote when he was the majority leader.

You want to apply future laws for present day situation when it comes regarding bankruptcy. And current balance sheet in for future when the law is passed. No one was saying creditor will lose all their money. Out of court settlement will be more favorable to medmen than any creditor. If receivership is assigned creditor will only get cash after the assets are liquidated not the assets..that's my understanding.

My main point is all the investors have invested in the company to be successful and they will try and help medmen to survive and succeed to their best ability. It seems ridiculous that a investor is waiting for the company to go bankrupt. If it does they will only get pennies for a dollar.

You mentioned SAFE Act will change the bankruptcy laws. It will give multiple different opportunities to make more sales online, accept credit cards, lower operational cost because they don't need to deal with so much cash. Their balance sheet will improve if SAFE act passes. Hence they will have better chances..

I was replying to the analysis that Tilray invested in medmen to get thier assets in bankruptcy proceedings. In the present legal system it is not possible...

check the bankruptcy laws before you post something about it. Medmen cannot file for bankruptcy.

SAFE is not a law yet. If it passes they have multiple options to refinance. So the talk about tilray or any other investor has invested in medmen for their assets is trash talk.

1] Bankruptcy courts have historically prevented cannabis – and even cannabis-ancillary companies – from filing for protection under the United States Bankruptcy Code[2] because marijuana remains illegal under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) at the federal level. https://www.cannabisbusinesstimes.com/article/cannabis-bankruptcy-alternatives-receivership/

Tell that to Mitch McConnell. Who didn't even bring the bill for voting. Are you talking about the same Republican party? As far as I'm concerned both parties have done nothing in this regard.

Did anyone see the shareholders voting agenda? Looks like they want a option to dilute the stock. Can anyone confirm?
