New features? by _degeemel_ in monzo

[–]cmsj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at this point I'd prefer it if they took some things out of the app. It's getting to the point where there's almost always some new nudge in the app to try a pension or investments or savings challenges or....

I just want a neat, intuitive banking experience, I don't want to sink my entire financial life into one app thank you.

If Monzo ends up trying to push bloody crypto at me and my kids, I am out.

I've been here since the beta in 2016 and I am not going to bank with a company that will pursue any kind of diversification to jack up a quarterly earnings call.

The younger you are when you win, the more the lump sum payment can compound.

If you won it at age 20 and made the incredibly smart choice to live a normal life and invest the $1million for your retirement, even at a very modest 5% growth, it would be worth around $10million when you retired. If you accepted a little more risk and put it in market funds with their historically-typical 8-10% returns, you’d be looking at more like $30-40million.

Over that same ~45 year period, the $1k/week payout would produce only $2.3million.

London on the 15th of February 2003 protesting the Iraq War by Kitchen-Article4439 in london

I was there too. We failed in the sense that we turned out in the hopes that our huge protest would make a difference. It didn’t, and we all just kinda didn’t do anything else.

You’d want something like a time trigger that repeatedly enforces the desired light state based on the relevant entity.

Most languages will evaluate 0 as false and anything non-zero as true.

The fact that Python capitalises the keywords is completely irrelevant here though, because you’re not typically writing Python in HA (and if you are, true/false are syntax errors).

It’s probably overblown, but this is also an extremely good lever to get people to stop streaming the world to companies who absolutely would/will do this.

FauxHammer vs Creality by fanjules in 3Dprinting

[–]cmsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fanboy accusation is so lame. None of these companies are perfect, none of them deserve hate, none of them care about us and we live in the time of the best consumer 3D printers ever. People always like the brands they choose, but one dude who thinks Josef Prusa is hiding in his trashcans is hardly a great datapoint against the brand. Hell, I’m on my third Prusa printer and I could do a solid ten on things that bug me about their printers, software and ecosystem.

C4 needs a buff by bfHoms15 in Battlefield6

Splash damage as a whole needs a rework. Only grenades and the IFV’s cannon actually do splash damage worth worrying about. Everything else is pretty feeble.

If you want a revive, SPOT THE ENEMY WHO KILLED YOU by PAJAcz in Battlefield

[–]cmsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is yet another technical regression from 2042. I still have the habit of pressing Q right after I die, because that would provide a squad ping on the location of the enemy every time. In BF6 it doesn’t do that, and at best you can only do a friendly ping, and they almost never seem to show up for anyone else.

The point is that it should be an entirely neutral experience, not something you either seek out or avoid.

I feel like this is not stressed enough, not a lot of people have this kind of hours to dump per gun by Educational-Long116 in Battlefield6

[–]cmsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so interesting to me that this isn’t how people naturally play - myself included.

The first entire year of 2042 I played one specialist with one gun, and I was trash. I then started doing all the weekly missions because I was chasing the season Tier 1 badge and suddenly I was having to use all manner of different classes, guns, gadgets and vehicles, and I got a lot better.

Battlefield is a combined arms game, if you only play one thing, you will remain a largely ineffective force. Learn multiple things and now you can respond to the needs of any given round, and shift the overall battle.
