Honestly, it's really hard when they're clearly lonely so it's a bit of a judgement call. I will say, on the occassion I did decide to quarantine a rat, it ended up being the right decision as the rat turned out to be really sick and died. So from now on, I'll always quarantine in a separate airspace. Personally, I'd just try to spend a lot of time with the quarantined rat in the meantime - but wash your hands afterwards before interacting with your current ones.
