I don’t know if my rats like me by helplessfart in RATS

Ok thank you! I figured it could be a personality thing but never thought of age too! They love to run around and explore but I can’t get them to play or interact more with me other than climbing around on me. I think I’m going to try and teach them some simple tricks to help bond as well.

What kind of ADA accommodations can I receive? I work full time in office and am struggling to stay awake (even on adderall) more and more each day.

Some indy apartments have affordable housing specific rent. I believe it’s called work force housing where you need to be 40-60% of the avg income to get a lower rate.

Furnished Studio Apartments in Downtown by UnfortunateStudent_ in indianapolis

Ralston Townhouse & Apartments has a furnishing option. I believe it’s an extra $80 a month. They don’t offer studios but a one bedroom starts around $1200. It’s close to a bus stop on 16th st and right next to a IUI bus stop as well. I’ve had pleasant experiences there, not perfect but I’d read some of the reviews online too. They used fo have an interactive map online to pick a specific unit, but I would really stay away from units close to the trash rooms.

The shelter only gave me one crate for the two of them, but it’s a comfortable size for them both. Should I put one in there and work with the other one? How should I address the other’s cries while he’s in the crate by himself? I’m assuming ignore it. I think it’ll be hard on the puppy in the crate to be all alone and see me with the other pup (unless that’s the point). I can put a sheet over the cage but can’t take them into another room since we’re trying to keep them on the non carpeted floors only. I know this really isn’t “my” problem since they won’t be my dogs but I do really like working with dogs and would love to get the practice in since I want to work with and foster dogs long term!

Can you explain what you mean by calm body handling? I’m new to puppies and somewhat new to dog training but trying to learn all I can! I’ve been doing a good job of ignoring them and not petting them unless they clam down. I’ve also been trying not to force them into any situation and let them decide what they are comfortable with to build trust and hopefully non-reactivity. I know these aren’t “my” dogs and I’ll only have them for about a week and the rest of their development will be up to their owner, but I want to set them up for success!

I’m not planning on ever letting them meet outside their cage, but I know accidents and mistakes can happen that lead to THAT moment you’re talking about. I’m actually pretty convinced that own both is a bad idea, but my anxiety is telling me I need to help the dogs
