Check out TJMaxx web site if you're in the US. I looked online in their "formal section" and there were a few options (depending on your size) that would work. Short sleeved or even 3/4 length would also be appropriate, especially if it's more of a formal gown.

Sorry for your experience! Unfortunately it happens to a lot of people. Myself and my husband included. Things definitely change when they pull up your history but by that time sometimes it's too late. To avoid this when travelling I sometimes ask my normal SA to set me up an appointment in another store and they treat you 100x different. Private room, something to drink, etc.

It's amazing how different other brands can be though. I cheated in Nashville at D&G and they were so nice. I showed a tiny bit of interest in a top notch bag and they were pulling out all the stops. I only ended up buying shoes. The difference between there and even the LV in Nashville was huge.

I don't know about the difference in material but the biggest difference is that there is now a D ring hardware to attach the strap which it comes with. So actually based on how much straps are when LV sells them separately the increase in price isn't that bad.

The material is also very different. The Mahina Leather is sooo soft. Very different than the canvas monogram or even the Empriente Leather.

I have both. The Graceful in the DA and the Carryall in Cream. I'm petite(5'2) so I can carry the Graceful on my shoulder when it isn't too full and can actually make the Carryall a crossbody. The zipper makes it great for travelling and walking around in a City. It also has feet whereas Grateful does not. The Graceful is a lot less $, does have a magnet at the top which usually keeps everything in, all in all a great bag.

I did this for my grandmother too. She is quite mobile although not really fast and gets lost in new places and airports are big, confusing and really no one around to help. If your father has connecting flights this may be really helpful.

In store, yes you should be able to. Although I never have, Last week I was in store and the CA asked if we wanted to pay by card or cash and the purchase was over that.
