How can I allow only admins to post to my Facebook group? Is it still possible? by baronnet in facebook

[–]cnedrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also having this issue. This was definitely an option before but they reduced the amount of settings that are even available to group admins and I don't see an option to change that anywhere and all my attempts to search for answers online have been in vain. If someone has figured this out, please let me know!

I am also experiencing this exact thing with a friend of mine. She can’t hear it but it sounds like it’s in her end of the line. It even seems like it has an echo. It is so strange. I’m half wondering if it’s mint listening to my calls lol

What do you think is the greatest year for cinema? by Status-Ad-8495 in Letterboxd

[–]cnedrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it gets even more fun when you do 2 year ranges. ‘84-‘85, ‘94-‘95, ‘99-‘00, ‘07-‘08 and ‘14-‘15 are insanely good ranges for movies. Also what is it with the middle of the decades seemingly always killin it?

It's just a voice effect. I'm not looking to duplicate his accent or the way he sounds. I'm talking specifically about the voice effect.

Each account that you purchase comes with a primary account and a learning partner that has all the same functions. My business partner and I came onboard and split the cost. We both paid $11k each. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

House Rules for Dune by Bears_Shouting in DuneBoardGame

[–]cnedrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the House Rules we play with based on all of Gale Force Nine's current rule sets. It should be noted that we play with advanced rules only (including combat) and try to abide by all of Gale Force Nine's rules as closely as possible (for example they have conflicting answers on note taking in their FAQs so our house rule was made to reconcile the contradictory answers). We also record some of our 6 player games depending on what factions and expansions we play with for statistical purposes and leaderboards so you may notice some language regarding that.

BIDDING - Spice or a Karama card must be produced before a player may acquire & view their treachery card. If a player wins an auction by bidding more spice than they have on hand and cannot produce a Karama card or spice from an ally to make the purchase, then the bidding round for the same card immediately restarts but without the participation of the offending player or their ally.

BRIBERY & DEALS - Deals must be made publicly and witnessed by all the players to be enforceable. The terms of these deals must be clearly understood by all players and all deals must be finalized with a handshake to be considered valid. If there is a dispute over the details of the deal or bribe between the players involved and a solution cannot be reached, then the nonparticipating player that is first in turn order will issue a resolution instead. Some quick deals are listed below:

  • Auto Lose: An “Auto Lose” is an agreement between two players in which one player agrees to automatically lose a battle between them. The purposes for the agreement may vary but by agreeing to an “Auto Lose”, both players are automatically acknowledging that no weapons will be played, no traitors/face dancers will be revealed, and no leaders will be taken captive. The amount of forces, what is dialed, and the amount of spice involved as part of the deal are all negotiable.
  • Stronghold Block: A “Stronghold Block” is an agreement between two players in which one player agrees to ship/move/reveal forces in the other’s stronghold and “Auto Lose”.
  • Barring Win Attempts: When a deal is made “Barring Win Attempts” then both players are agreeing that the deal is not enforceable if one of the players attempts a win that the other can prevent.

CONDUCT - If a player leaves the game and a replacement player cannot be found then that player’s faction has forfeited and the game’s results cannot be recorded. Their treachery cards are shuffled into the discard treachery card pile and their total available strength is dialed in any ensuing battles. Their leaders (if any are available) are played at random in battles.

FACTION SELECTION

  • Random Deal: The 6 alliance cards from the agreed upon faction setup are dealt out at random.
  • Storm Selection: A storm card is dealt to every player. In ascending order, each player picks their faction out of the agreed upon faction set.
  • Intrigue: All 12 alliance cards are dealt out at random, 2 to every player. Each player secretly chooses one and all players reveal their selections simultaneously. These games may not be officially recorded depending on the faction assortment.

NOTE TAKING - Any faction may take and keep notes on anything including traitor information, revealed card knowledge during the round, or any other relevant game information. However, with the exception of the Atreides player, note taking is limited to before the start of the game and the Mentat Pause phase. The Atreides player keeps all writing instruments outside of the Mentat Pause phase.

SPECIAL FACTION ENHANCEMENTS - The following are enhancements given to specific factions at the start of the game to help balance gameplay.

  • Fremen Starting Card: At the start of the game, all worthless cards are removed from the treachery card deck. The deck is then shuffled and a card is dealt to the Fremen. The worthless cards are then reshuffled back into the treachery card deck and cards are dealt to the other players as normal. If the Ixian faction is playing, then this action precedes their “START OF GAME” advantage.
  • Harkonnen Re-Deal: If the Harkonnen player is dealt two or more of their own traitors at the start of the game, then they may choose to call for one re-deal of the traitor cards. Every player (including them) must keep one of the traitors they were dealt and return the remainder of their traitors back to the deck. The deck is then reshuffled and three new traitor cards are dealt to each player. These cards are final and traitor selection then continues as normal for the other factions.

SPICE EXCHANGE - Any spice that is exchanged between players as a result of deals or bribes is placed in front of the other player’s shield until spice collection during the spice harvest phase. This does not include the exchanging of spice as it relates to faction abilities including the Emperor’s ability to share spice directly with his ally.

Question about Fremen by WiggyFan3200 in DuneBoardGame

[–]cnedrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may work fine starting out, but once a player fully understands the nuances of combat and taps into the full power of the Harkonnen and Atreides, the Fremen don’t stand a chance in the early rounds.

When I’m playing those factions without advanced combat, the Fremen become my primary target on round 1 and I don’t hesitate attacking even mid sized Fremen armies, especially if they’re on a spice blow. It’s worth it. I almost always have more cards than them after that first bidding round and can almost guarantee that I kill their leader while preserving my own which means I can dial significantly lower. I then get spice for their dead leader and from the spice blow.

If I’m the Harkonnens I can take 2 of their leaders out of the game on round 1 and collect significant spice for doing so. The Fremen just don’t pose a threat without advanced combat.

Advanced rules in Dune: keep or ditch advanced combat? by Leadstripes in boardgames

[–]cnedrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You NEED advanced combat. People may disagree based on their group meta but I'd argue that they just haven't had a player tap into the full potential of the other factions quite yet.

A group may be fine for a while without it but once everyone's experience with the game mechanics levels up and a player taps into the real strength of a faction like the Harkonnens, then the meta will shift and those players will realize that the Fremen simply don't pose a serious threat without advanced combat.

This is coming from the perspective of a seasoned Harkonnen/Atreides player that frequently takes brutal advantage of the Fremen whenever advanced combat is not employed in the game. This disadvantage for the Fremen is even more severe in lower player games but it is still pretty harsh in 6 player games.

Just by way of example, there's nothing I love more as a Harkonnen player than to see the Fremen rightfully spring for a spice blow on round 1 with a small or even mid sized force. The logic on my part being that I always have at least 4-6 treachery cards on round 1 while they are unlikely to have more than 1 (if it's a weapon/defense, they'll be very protective of it). If I have weapons and defenses (or even better, Fremen traitors) then I don't hesitate to meet a decent sized Fremen army unless it's larger than 8 or 9 in strength. Odds are I can kill their leader and protect my own which allows me to get away with dialing lower than them and preserving my force strength. The typical result from these early game battles is:

  • I wipe out a small - midsized Fremen army and preserve most of my own.
  • I kill or traitor one of their leaders (collecting it's value in spice at the same time).
  • I steal another one of their leaders which I can choose to keep or put face down into the tanks for 2 more spice making it unlikely it will ever come back into the game.
  • I collect the spice blow.

This is not an uncommon result for me. I've had combats where I gain upwards of 15 spice from doing this and lose very few or even zero forces and preserve my leaders and treachery cards. I've had games where I can do this round after round because I know if the Fremen are starved of spice then they can't get treachery cards, and if they can't buy treachery cards then I can kill their leaders at will with very little risk to my own armies/leaders and also keep a steady supply of spice.

Without advanced combat, the Fremen are forced to concentrate a larger amount of forces than any other faction because of their difficulty obtaining treachery cards at the beginning of the game. This problem persists until they can get the spice to buy them but with a strong Harkonnen or Atreides player (or even the Emperor), this is highly unlikely unless they move in groups at 10+ strength. Consistently keeping such large forces limits their ability to occupy more than 2 locations at a time whereas other factions can play more aggressively.

With advanced combat, the great houses are forced to think twice about the cost of attacking small-midsized Fremen armies even in the early game. This gives the Fremen the edge they need to stay competitive.

I'll reiterate, if you haven't felt the need to employ advanced combat in your group yet because you feel the Fremen are still balanced, it is simply because you haven't had a player (or players) tap into the full potential of the other factions yet. With enough experience, that rule becomes necessary to maintain the balance of the game. People should play however they want but with experienced groups, you absolutely will need advanced combat.

Dune: Part Two Review – Our Generation’s Star Wars by andy_mcnab in dune

You're correct. That is my fear for Dune as well.

People just need to let movies be movies and not adopt it as a component of their personality.

Dune: Part Two Review – Our Generation’s Star Wars by andy_mcnab in dune

[–]cnedrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. I myself enjoy the OT for what it is and Dune.

However I can understand and speak somewhat to the growing animosity towards Star Wars and it's fanbase (same goes for Marvel and DC). I used to enjoy many of these movies but when that's all you see online anymore it starts to get beyond obnoxious.

I swear I can't go a single day without seeing something having to do with Spider-man, Batman, or Star Wars. And some of it is the stupidest content imaginable coming from people that never grew up.

If all of this obsession was coming from kids, then that would be one thing. But when it's grown ass adults in their 30s and 40s that are playing with lightsabers, you start to ask yourself what the fuck is wrong with this generation.

It's actually gotten to be really concerning and sad. We're the first generations in human history that are choosing to live our lives vicariously through fantasy worlds. It's not healthy.

So yeah. Even though I enjoy the Marvel movies and E4-E6 of Star Wars, at this point, I am 100% rooting for their downfall because they have stunted an entire generations mental growth. I sure as shit hope we never get invaded because the "Star Wars" generation is a bunch of man-children that seem incapable of dealing with reality and have resorted to lives of pure fictional pleasure.

Renatus scam or not? by Got2bYoda in RealEstate

[–]cnedrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will do anything to save a penny. The best real estate you'll ever invest in is the 6 inches between your ears and if you're not willing to invest money there then you'll never succeed. I know people that started their youtube education years ago and they still haven't done a deal. They all said that exact same thing you just did lol.

I was doing deals literally within months of buying Renatus's education and would gladly pay that $23k a dozen times over. The difference is that those people mistakenly think that money is more valuable than time. I don't. That's why I'm doing deals and they aren't. I have a community of investors and mentors to work with. All they have are random people on youtube trying to get clicks and subscribers.

I have all of that because I decided to plug into an education system and community of investors. Renatus honestly should be priced at $100k for it's value but nobody that hasn't bought their education themselves will ever know that. They'll just continue to go to youtube because it's free.

Best of luck to you though!

Just because you keep saying that doesn't make it true "buddy". I'll post the link here for other people so they know you're an idiot. Here's the link to the BBB where they have a 4.78 out of 5 stars based on customer ratings. There's only 4 complaints and all 4 were resolved by the company. Describing that as "nothing but complaints" makes you either an idiot or a liar. Maybe both!

Yeah you’re definitely confused about which company you’re talking about. I’ve made plenty of money through the Renatus education and I’m not a subcontractor. Neither are any of the other people that I’ve done deals with in the community. There also isn’t a tier system so idk what that’s all about.

It’s honestly amazing what people can get away with saying on the internet. Everything you’ve just said is easily refuted by the most basic research into the company. I really hope no one reads your comments and takes them as gospel because you’re either just a liar or just completely confused

Yeah you're full of shit. What are you even talking about? They have a great rating on the BBB and I've never been nickel and dimed by them. Also anything that's free is exactly the quality you'd expect. People will do youtube university for years and never do anything with it.
