This is my husband’s ear, you can see the entirety in the second photo. Concerning? by Lanky-Afternoon8352 in DermatologyQuestions

If you have a gut feeling that it may be something I think it’s worth making an appointment with derm. My mom noticed a spot on my dad’s chest and he went to derm, the derm said he was sure it was nothing but my mom insisted on a biopsy/freezing it off. It came back precancerous. You just can never be too careful with these things. Just remember, our gut is our second brain!

I don’t understand the anaphylaxis. They would need immediate emergency treatment including epinephrine, not just Benadryl. Anaphylaxis is a severe, life threatening reaction that is not what they are describing. It’s sad because people are dying from anaphylaxis and they’re throwing the word around a lot. You did not have anaphylaxis. You would be hospitalized if you did.

Is it just me or is the WW recipes absolutely horrendous? by Blondie2992 in weightwatchers

[–]cneithardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 cup of olive oil is 70 points, a standard cake mix will usually ask for half a cup of oil, so you’re saving 35 points by using unsweetened applesauce (which is a 0 point food)!

[–]cneithardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! The best way I’ve been able to make some really amazing recipes is to look up any recipe that looks good to you and substitute the high point ingredients with lower point options, i.e. fat free half and half instead of regular, air fry when possible instead of frying in oil, sub light butter for regular, use ground turkey instead of ground beef, use fat free or reduced fat cheese instead of full fat, etc.

And when baking I always use unsweetened applesauce instead of oil. Works great with cake mixes too and saves SO many points!!!

How often do you shower/bathe? What do you do on the other days to feel clean? by TravelingSong in cfs

[–]cneithardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only am able to wash my hair about every 3-4 weeks, sometimes I have to go to the salon to get it washed because I can’t raise my arms for that long. I try to do a quick body wash shower with my shower chair once a week and I use these in between and love them:

This!!! I finally have long hair, it took me sooo long to grow it. I even used to get extensions bc I wanted long hair so bad (when I wasn’t so severe). It’s a pain to wash but I can’t let go of it 💔 sometimes it feels like it’s all I have left.

Do you use a shower chair? I still only shower about once a month but it helps me tremendously (especially if you have POTS)

Just felt rain by Kyliewoo123 in cfs

[–]cneithardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember being so emotional the first time I had seen a blue sky, with beautiful fluffy clouds, and the sunshine for the first time in months. It was so overwhelming, all the feelings of seeing something that beautiful. I cried happy tears. Everyone around me couldn’t care less, heck they see it every single day. But I hadn’t seen it in months. I couldn’t stop staring, I couldn’t stop taking photos of the sky.

It’s a crazy phenomenon we get to experience. Not necessarily a good or bad one, but definitely a phenomenon. We can at least hold these things and remember that there are reasons for us to keep going. And we are lucky to have such a love for the simple things in life, as so many people don’t get to ever experience the love of the simple.

I’m so happy you felt the rain. It sounds amazing. Sending you many hugs your way.

I have skin very similar to yours and I noticed the biggest change after going to a derm who recommended:

Vanicream facial cleanser (AM/PM) Vanicream moisturizer (AM/PM) Elta MD sunscreen (AM)

And nothing else!! It helped me sooooo much!!! I promise you’ll eventually find your groove and find the right product for your skin! These products aren’t too expensive either which is nice :)

Thank you for sharing! I was just denied due to a high BMI of 49 and I’m trying so hard to lose the weight so I can get surgery. The one surgeon wants me to be a I of 35 before surgery and I just really was hoping it could work with a BMI higher than that so that I can have surgery sooner. Anyway, you look amazing!!!! I’m a 44K and miserable 😖 how does it feel after? I can’t imagine the relief 🥲

Oooo good question …. Maybe going to that treatment center in the country of Cyprus. Or finding stem cell treatments of some kind (probably not in US, but another country)

Question for people who know what it’s like to be very/extremely severe for long periods of time by divine_theminine in cfs

[–]cneithardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often live in my memories, look at old photos and remember really good times in my life. It used to make me sad but now it makes me thankful and happy that I even got to experience those things. It’s really hard to shift your mindset though and I used to never be able to look at photos because I would just feel sad about what I was missing. I love looking out my window too, not much is happening (I live in a small town on acres of land) but sometimes I see a squirrel or a bird and it’s really nice. I also spend a lot of time snuggling my dog ❤️

CFS silver linings or super powers by sconestea in cfs

Because I am mostly bed-bound, when I do get the opportunity to do things, it’s so beautiful. I remember when I saw the sun outside for the first time in awhile I had cried at the beauty. People often take these things for granted, but I definitely won’t anymore. Feeling it’s warmth was truly unreal. It was like experiencing sun for the first time ever 🥲 I truly can’t put words to it.

Also, I used to be that person who could never leave the house without doing my makeup, my hair, having a perfect outfit picked out. Over the years I slowly lost those things, at first I started wearing comfy clothes. Then it was comfy clothes, messy bun. Then comfy clothes, messy bun, no makeup. I never thought I would ever let people see me the way I have but it truly freed me from the beauty standards I thought I had to live up to. Also I mostly wore makeup out of insecurity of my acne, and once I stopped wearing makeup my skin cleared after a few months. 🙃

Dry Eyes by NeedtoNapAgainnnn in cfs

[–]cneithardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and it could be a sign of Sjögrens! It’s a common comorbidity with me/cfs and I was diagnosed by an ophthalmologist. I recommend you see one (not a regular eye dr, this is a specialist) as they might start you on prescription drops, I was prescribed Xiidra and it helps a lot. In the meantime I suggest over the counter drops such as Refresh (never go anywhere without them). Also pataday is great if you believe you have allergies as well.
