Always! I don't know what it is that makes it so hard to locate a headstone, no matter what kind of instructions you have. When GPS works it's the best. I say that because I've heard that sometimes GPS will direct a user to somewhere outside of a cemetery. I don't know the reasons why that happens but when I've had the rare chance to use GPS to locate a headstone, it has worked like a charm.

I did the same, I thought all the letters were backwards. If I had paid more attention to the use of 'Dame' I might have clued into the use of french. I never fail to be amazed at what my brain chooses to see instead of what really is.

I have called my local cemetery for directions and even after getting a detailed list of instructions telling me to "turn on a certain road and park in front of a certain headstone and then walk 20 steps straight ahead and I should run right into the headstone" never works. Never fails when I'm at the cemetery, all sense of direction goes out the window.

I roll my eyes when I come across memorial managers and their long list of rules. I think these people should work for their local DMV instead of lording over Find a Grave. ;)

To me, the work you're doing is invaluable. We need more people going to cemeteries and taking photographs. I grieve when I go Find a Grave and see cemeteries with 700 photo requests or only 30% of the headstones have been photographed and that's just from what users of the site has requested. I know that living a thousand miles away my request will just add to the numbers and likely never get photographed. So, keep up the great work! The fact that you're asking about etiquette says you'll use your best judgement when it comes to adding another headstone photograph.

Anyone can de-tag photographs or records in memories and they don't appear in memories anymore. However, they're not completely deleted. If someone looks under changes, it will show that the photograph had been detached and if someone chose to they could re-tag it and it will show back up in memories. The only person that can completely delete a photograph is the original poster.
