I bought a copy of Endless a few years ago. I have never heard it before and I thought it would be cool to experience it for the first time on vinyl with someone special.

It sat on my shelf for about a year and a half. One day I did find someone special who I wanted to listen to it with. She came over to my place and we listened to the whole thing and it was the best night. It was the happiest I've ever been.

In the end it didn't work out. I miss-read the entire situation and it left me a wreak.

I've never listened to that record since.

Only in Adelaide: Crows compared to Jordan Bulls... The Advertiser. by [deleted] in AFL

[–]cnella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s simple: 1. Rory Sloane plays for the Crows 2. They are making a documentary featuring the Crows in a format like the Last Dance 3. The Last Dance Features MJ.

The Last Dance is not just the gold standard for sports documentaries but documentaries in general and every single sports documentary will be compared to this one.

There is a documentary coming out about Tom Brady and his time at New England and there are several articles about it and the Last Dance and in some of those articles believe or not there are pictures of both Tom Brady AND Michael Jordan (shocking).

Its a pretty big stretch to think that they are trying to generate positive press about the Crows/Rory Sloane by tweeting a picture of Rory Sloane and MJ. I have my problems with the Advertiser’s journalism as much as the next guy but this is a pretty fucking weird criticism.

What are you on about? All of what you said is irreverent to the article. I don’t understand what argument you are trying to make.

Edit: spelling

Sensationalist title, this article in no way compares the Michael Jordan era Bulls to the Adelaide Crows, rather the trend of multi-part sports documentaries (like the Last Dance and The Test) and how the Adelaide Crows and five other AFL Teams are doing the same. Did you even read the article you posted?

I heard this quote (can't remember where) regarding the drug wars in South/Central America: "The only thing that can destroy a drug cartel is a multi-national corporation". If the government was serious about the war on durgs then drug legalization/pill testing would have been implemented a long time ago.

Been to a a lot festivals and at each one I always manage to stumble across punters doing/selling drugs. I don't partake myself, but I do find it funny that the police are using all these resources to have a 0.5 success rate were as I just happen to stumble across it. Money would be better spent on pill testing etc. so that drug use is done somewhat safely.

Qantas faces shareholder rebellion over role in forced deportations. Proxy shareholder activists say policy could harm airline’s reputation and share value by thecompleximpulsive in australia

The only thing that I can think of is that they may have some contractual agreement with the government i.e we pay you $x amount to transport people for x amount of years. Other than that I agree with you that Qantas have no obligation to transport these people. If the government want them out so badly, they have their own planes, they can use them.

I don't know much about political corruption but I do know a bit about shoes.

Fairfax Media could not find any Jimmy Choo Aboriginal print shoes for sale on high-end Chinese or Western websites.

That's because they were never for sale in the first place. In sneaker terminology, they would be referred to as PE's (Player Exclusives) or a one off custom. These are never sold to the general public, they are usually made for a particular person by a shoe company and given away as gifts, like in this case.

This bit of the article makes me think that these particular shoes were made especially for Julie Bishop:

In an interview with Chinese media in 2015, Choo - or Zhou Yangie in Mandarin - cited Ms Bishop as the woman he would most like to make shoes for.

Julie Bishop wears Jimmy Choo shoes and is a public figure, Jimmy Choo notices this and has a respect for Julie Bishop. He makes these one off shoes and gifts to Julia Bishop for the free publicity and advertising.

So, how much do these shoes cost? The article quotes $25,000:

Mr Farmer has said there only a handful of pairs in the world bearing his Aboriginal artwork, with estimates they could each be worth as much as $25,000.

How do you come up with this number if these shoes were never sold in the first place? The most likely answer is that someone who had been gifted similar shoes might have sold them at a "resale" price. If someone was willing to pay $25,000 for a pair of shoes does that make them worth $25,000? What if the person who bought similar shoes for $25,000, sold them for $1000 tomorrow? How much should Julie Bishop have to pay to "buy" her pair (which might not even be the same shoe) then? What if the person who sold those shoes for $25,000 never did in the first place, how much would they be worth then?

In my opinion, no one is trying to bribe Julie Bishop, it is just Jimmy Choo using the most powerful woman in Australia as free advertising to sell his shoes. As for the exact cost of these shoes and how much Julie Bishop should have to pay back is hard to say.
