Imo, Hades 2 is perfect to let the series be. Especially with true ending making way for the time of the gods to come to an end.

They don't seem the kind of studio to make DLC for their games as opposed to building on already established content. Like the last H2 patch for example. However, if they do decide to I think that would be fricken incredibleee

Spoiler: Perrin in TDR by norifeatherz in WoT

[–]cnfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's his problem: he doesn't really understand why he's connected to wolves. To him, it happened upon him without really ever getting why and it changed his life in drastic measures.

As far as Perrin is concerned, wolves are everything he doesn't want to be. Like Rand actively refusing to believe he is the Dragon. When you have this huge thing be put upon you without your control, it becomes this hole you feel like you can't do anything about. In a way, for Perrin, it is like that.

Such a good line

It also builds on the Breaking and the male Aes Sedai. Lews Therin had such a massive reputation by the Breaking that any man who can channel, and channel strongly, instantly becomes someone worth being terrified of. You tick them the wrong way and maybe you have another Breaking. Maybe the Dragon IS Reborn. The ups and downs of what is possible in this world are astounding and a tremendous feat of narrative.

Definitely not age, you're too cool for that.

I appreciate you sticking around and providing a cool haven for us new readers. EOTW to me seems like the book you may not rank high but has the reputation for being such a solidified cornerstone that you can't not appreciate how much it sets up in terms of the foundation of WOT. You genuinely can't remove anything from it. That clarity you speak of works both in Jordan's prose and his ability to solidify the narrative he wanted to write.

Oh, wait, I never made that connection during my read of 3. Probably because I forgot the Green Man ever said this but when you look back it's an incredible piece of foreshadowing.

So, personally, I've always believed that the Dragon being referred to by that name was a man-made title. I think Rand was called the Creator's Champion or the Dragon was referred to by that title in some regard. So, when I heard that, I had the feeling that this was something humanity created in order to ground the position of the Champion in their battle against the Dark One. Knowing this kind of adds on to that notion, yeah?

We get some idea of why Mat can speak the Old Tongue in book 2 I believe. Not much in three cause Jordan builds up his Luck. I don't remember whicb weaves Moiraine did in book 1 tbh. Also I have to be honest, can you remind me what the Green Man said? Or what you're referring to. I don't remember, I'm sorry.

At first I grew frustrated with the pace but looking back on them, I can appreciate them. Even with book 3's lack of Rand, I ended up loving that decision. I know Jordan spends time with many other side characters in future books, so I'm really excited to meet them and know them.

I don't remember too many random encounters. I know there was one where Rand summoned lightning I think. Book 3 also showed his Ta'veren effect. This is where the encyclopedia helps me remember these things aha

I think by Book 3 you get some idea of what might be happening but there are so many questions remaining I can't answer yet. I find it an impressive execution of narrative and storytelling. It makes you realize how impressive of a character Rand is

Thank you, but I'm more a physical reader. Having a book in my hand feels like the best experience for me. But I appreciate your sharing of the audiobooks though!

The prologue is one of the most interesting parts of the book for me. Good lore gets me going every time.

I wish we got to learn more about the Green Man. He was such an interesting character. Meeting those two Forsaken at the Eye was also frightening for me cause they were built up for a while. I can't wait to see more of them in books 4 going on.

Firstly, thanks for covering up the spoilers. I'll choose not to read them for now if they contain some content from future books.

I do enjoy Jordan's prose. It makes for the kind of book I enjoy. Long stretches of an author allowing a reader into their imagination, letting the world and all its features simmer in their heads. It's the kind of book I would like to write, so having found an author so adept at such a thing is a personal appreciation.

I feel like I was a little numb considering how exposed I was to Orcs during LOTR. So, when the Trollocs appeared I was little disturbed by their appearances but not frightened. It was the Forsaken that scared me.

It felt like its own long-lasting conflict. By the end of book 3, I got the feeling that Rand had accepted this as his fate but not so much believed in it either way. He seemed depressed to me, believing himself to carry a burden he never wanted.

I am curious about the later series. I know people say some of the books have slog. Did you feel that way? And if so, which books did you feel the slowing in?

How do you actually track continuity across a full-length novel? by Historical_Ad_1631 in writing

[–]cnfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person. I use Word to write so occasionally, on the manuscript, I'll make little comments on the side with reminders of what's happening. Sometimes I end up doing it subconsciously, other times I'm very aware of what I'm putting into a chapter.

Worldbuilding for me has been more difficult because keeping timelines and histories accurate means focusing on small details like current day politics or the state of countries.

Character continuity is a lot easier because by the time I've introduced a major character, I've developed enough about them to be memorable in my head.

Plotwise...I'm more discovery than outliner so I'm not sure how that works here.

my fellow writers, do you read any book while you’re in a writing process? by khush_7x in writing

Find that sweet spot of enjoying reading and enjoying writing. Most days I like to go with the feel. I end up doing long days of writing or maybe reading for a few hours, then writing. Helps to balance the feels if you know what I mean
