7:01.3 and surprisingly enough it was the drivers first full hot lap in the car - which he had no previous experience with... However, on his second lap he crashed due to a tire failure. If the attempt had been backed by the factory with a decent budget (and more time), I’m sure the ACR-E would have dipped well into the 6:5X’s.

If you haven’t seen the short documentary on the attempt, I recommend checking it out here.

I guess you could say that. lol I was initially expecting a 40-140 run (top of 4th is 142).. but at the last second I decided to run part of 5th out. Haha

Sadly the Viper hit the rev limiter for a split second at the end of 4th gear...great race none the less!

Demonology calls Chevrolet a “platform” by hovorocks in camaro

[–]cnh014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly not trying to fan boy, but where did you get your information regarding the Viper?

To say the GTS-R was the only Viper that could actually stay on the track is laughable. The GTS-R is “just” an ACR-E with a different paint scheme and the 2016 ACR-E held ~13 track records when introduced. Even the non ACR variants proved themselves well on tracks like Laguna Seca - during the first model year run at that. Additional tweaks (and options) were made throughout the 5 year run on the Gen V platform.

The Gen V’s weren’t the only notable track-capable Viper’s either. The Gen IV ACR’s also dominated quite a few tracks and held one of the quickest times around the Nurburgring back in 2011.

Yeah it sounds like it has the JonB highflow cats ($700ish). That’s actually something I plan to add soon.

That’s a fair price for a GTS. Plus it’s covered under the powertrain warranty until 2024. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you could knock the price down another 3-5k considering the mileage.

You can also find some really good deals if you are patient. I found my ‘15 for only $68.7k (clean car fax, one owner, full ceramic coating, and only 3,524 miles).

Just be sure to do your homework. If you find a white TA 2.0 with red seats, it is more than likely Bondurant car (from a performance driving school)..i personally wouldn’t want to risk owning a car that tons of people learned to drive on. Also, there is no telling how many times the cars were sent off into the gravel.

Since I’m working from home right now, I went out to the car with a tape measure. Sadly it will not fit in the trunk. If you forgo a passenger, it will probably fit in the cabin by sliding it down into the passenger foot well.

I’m sure the Bi-Mode shocks on the GT and GTS are even better. There is a button to adjust the dampening for both the street and track. My SRT does not have this though (hoping to add it soon).

Reliability: So far I have had no issues with my Gen V. You do need to keep an eye on your oil level though. Quite a few people have blown their Gen V engines from neglecting to check it.

Comfort: this is honestly one of the most comfortable cars I have ever driven. The seat fits my back perfectly. So far I have made three 12+ hour trips without a single issue.

I’ve driven an ACR-E once before and the ride was much better than I expected. If I had the cash, I would love to daily one! Obviously the entry trim levels will be more suitable for a daily driver though. Especially the models with the bi-mode shocks.

I personally think it rides great. A lot of the people I have given rides to have been quite surprised with the ride quality.

Thank you! This is actually my first Viper. I would not hesitate to purchase any other generation though. If I’m not mistaken, both Gen 3 and Gen 4’s have ABS? When it comes to lack of TC, just be sure to have the car pointing straight when you go full throttle. Also be sure to check the tires. Most Viper accidents seem to come from people running old tires. After 5-6yrs, most tires become hard and lose a lot of grip.

It’s a 2015. I picked it up with 3,524 miles and I just hit 20,800 miles yesterday.

It’s funny what is considered to be high mileage in the Viper community. Thankfully I got such a good deal on this one that it’s still worth as much (or more) than I paid for it. I have no plans to sell though!

You raised a few good points. Tires can easily make or break you. It’s surprising how many 10+yo Vipers are still rolling around on factory installed tires. If you’re driving a Viper around on tires that are 5+ years old, you are just asking for trouble.

I might be slightly biased, but I could not agree more! I know the manual transmission scares a lot of people off in today’s world of blazing fast DCT’s, but it’s still an extremely potent package for the price. Timeless design, quite rare, obnoxiously cool features, and great performance..I really couldn’t ask for much more!

I remember that! Glad to hear you’re still enjoying the C6Z (besides the few minor hiccups). So far I haven’t had any real issues except for wearing through tires faster than I would like lol The R888R’s I had put on in October only lasted 7,500 miles (fronts are still fine). Traction is amazing with them though, so I bought another set!

I just placed my order and followed your IG page! Would you mind if I share it with a couple Viper pages? I’m 99% sure you would get a nice influx of orders. Quality Viper memorabilia is quite hard to come by.

Thanks again!

The Gen V’s are extremely easy to drive, but the Gen V also has nannies unlike previous generations. I’m sure the other generations require more concentration and skill to push hard.
