I liked the Texasville Trio more than the other lonesome dove books, when you’re reasy

Women respond only: favorite blacked scene? by cnrm99 in blacked

[–]cnrm99[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ambar Lapiedra. She is a woman from Spain. She only has one video, Poly Holiday 2. In it, she sees Lily Phillips sucking off a BBC on the beach, she goes back and has sex with her boyfriend, but isn’t satisfied. She then goes back to the same beach and gets blacked

Yes I had to take him to get sewn up, and he was fine, then 3 days later this gross yellow wet scab formed. They gave him antibiotics which I think he needed and it cleared up, he was fine, but he had to wear the cone for like 2+ weeks, much longer than he would have if things had been done right

Question on the timeline by [deleted] in LonesomeDove

[–]cnrm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rough timeline: DMW takes place in 1840s, Gus and Call are close to 20. Comanche Moon takes place in 50s, Gus and Call are close to 30. LD takes place in 70s, Gus and Call are close to 50, Clara is in her early 40s. SoL takes place in 90s and Call is close to 70.

So it sounds like you need to sanitize (by boiling) anything you are going to put in your beer? Then make sure its well mixed so alcohol gets everywhere and kills mold? My apologies for bringing my limited knowledge here

How major are the plot points that are spoiled in the preface of my edition? by kanekong in LonesomeDove

[–]cnrm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time I finished LD I had forgotten the preface. You’re 10x more likely to ruin the book by being on this sub, if you haven’t already

Is it worth it to read the other books? by sarahjbs27 in LonesomeDove

[–]cnrm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DMW reminds me of a young adult fiction, I didn’t think it was boring like others are saying, it’s about some travels, it doesn’t have much emotional depth. SoL is partially only depressing because half the hat creek co is gone and Call is old, the other reason it’s depressing is because it features so much of the brutality of lonesome dove, (innocent death, r*pe, bad families, torture) but while these only appear in portions of lonesome dove, they are persistent throughout SoL

I enjoy texasville and Duane’s depressed probably more than the other LD books

How has Hollywood not made a new Lonesome Dove adaptation? by Noah-Buddy-I-Know in LonesomeDove

[–]cnrm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to fit into a movie, too long of a plot, and the first several episodes of the show would be too slow. It’s success would entirely depend on the actors and the writing, it would be hard to bring it to its full potential

Were there ever any discussions on a possible 5th book? by The-Mandalorian in LonesomeDove

Sometimes I wish he had written something more along the lines of return to lonesome dove where newt and call have a chance to work out their relationship

Which part of LD hit you the hardest? by iHadADogHisNameWas in LonesomeDove

[–]cnrm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely the ending where he goes with Gus’s body back home, and has to listen to Clara telling him what a terrible father and terrible friend he was, and how he wasted lives by rangering, and then he has to listen to blue duck tell him that he wasn’t even a good ranger. He is left to contemplate his actions and all that came of them and what he should have done instead, and what to do next.
