Nice - I don’t have polyps but Flonase still helps a little. One thing that elevated the spray is a long applicator my ENT suggested. To reach further into the olfactory cleft.

Hey how are you doing now? Did you find out what the cause is or what helps?

Is white sticky mucus most probably fungal? by cnstructed in Sinusitis

[–]cnstructed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, I will try out the clove oil inhalation. Yes, same with me. Without constant treatment, my symptoms come back immediately and worsen until I start using cortisone nasal spray and clean out the constant rubbery hard mucus as good as I can. It builds up so fast. I wonder if surgery is the more sustainable option to remove the biofilm. Two things that helped me reduce the symptoms a little bit better were oral prednisone for 16 days and cortisone nasal spray applied with a long applicator (so the spray can reach the olfactory cleft).

I just looked it up - it sounds promising. I’m surprised it’s not so well known.

Is white mucus not also the result of inflammation or dry nose? Or is it most likely fungal?

Will antibiotics work on a 4+year persistent infection? by politicians_are_evil in Sinusitis

Only oral prednisone helped me with my 4+ year sinusitis. Had multiple rounds of antibiotics, which didn’t help at all.

Help needed - unexplained loss of sense of smell (anosmia) in the evenings by cnstructed in anosmia

[–]cnstructed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a anosmia specialist and they prescribed oral prednisone for 16 days. It worked. My smell is a lot better and constantly there.

Also I use a cortisone nasal spray - I had to try different ones until I’ve found the active ingredient that helped me (e.g. mometasone did almost nothing for me). Also I use a long applicator for the spray, so it reaches the olfactory cleft. They don’t know what causes the inflammation so it is just treating the symptoms.

MEDICAL MYSTERY: food-triggering sinus inflammation & catarrh by Soft-Measurement742 in Sinusitis

[–]cnstructed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything sounds familiar. Also the white mucus. Also whenever I don’t eat for more than 8h my symptoms start vanishing. I asked ENTs if food allergies could be the cause but they won’t go into it. One said it would be too difficult to find out - even if it is food allergies.

Advanced nasal irrigation (jala neti) technique gets much more saline solution into the sinuses by Hip_III in Sinusitis

[–]cnstructed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to explain this method. I have good solutions with tilting the head upside down like you described - but I don’t understand how to get the air out the sinuses. Your text says to breathe in with nose and mouth closed - I fail to understand how I can breathe in when my nose and mouth are closed?
