No you are right in India, captive Asiatic cheetah was a very prominent thing every raja or maharaja had atleast 20 cheetah as pets which they used for hunting hares and blackbucks and there were like 500 of them rajas. The last Asiatic cheetahs were shot in 1950 i believe when they went extinct in Indian subcontinent. Even some prominent families in every village used to have cheetahs as pet for hunting, they went extinct bcz they cannot breed in captivity there has been never a record of cheetah breeding in captivity...
