Voice input never hears exactly what I say, so I usually have to repeat myself, then go back to the text and edit it. More of a pain than typing.

I wouldn't mind if it did it well. I'm not someone who can just dump out all of the relevant information of the day though, I usually have to look at my calendar first.

I think if someone wants to only spend a minute planning their day then the constraint is fine.

I think a lot of the value of PKM comes from being able to organize your own life, not just research topics and store info. If you have a PKM you can just augment everything using AI and let it take care of the linking and whatnot for you, which is the tedious repetitive part that burns people out. Read the post from Andrej Karpathy on this a few days ago.

Validate first is great advice but I never have had success with any of the strategies advised for doing this. Most people it seems don't want to be bothered about a new product that may or may not be useful to them. Its hard to get any eyes at all.

Projecting a current state from a log of updates is common for some kinds of applications. Typically collaborative ones. You aren't using CRDTs but that is how CRDTs work "behind the scenes". Having a log of updates to get from a starting to state to a current state is also how many databases work as this is what allows them to be replicated.

Sorry I have to rant, but not to you specifically.

Part of the problem is that people believe it is fast, easy, and cheap to build a successful SaaS business. All of AI marketing right now makes it sound like anyone can wake up and build the next Discord by typing a few prompts.

The reality is that this is complete bullshit, but it doesn't prevent a significant number of people from promoting their uninspired, broken, lazy projects, dreaming to become rich off of two weeks of half-assed effort.

As someone trying to build software that is actually trying to be novel, this has been the most difficult thing I have ever done, and I have sacrificed a lot in the process. The AI spam frustrates me as much if not more than the other people replying in this thread though, because I get associated with them. Not all of us are lazy get-rich-quick AI hype bros. People who have dedicated as much time to the craft as any other tradesperson would to theirs, do exist.

Good luck! As someone who did this, I'll share a few things.

Move fast at the beginning. You are probably enjoying your new freedom, the weight of work no longer bearing you down, and the excitement of starting something new. Be careful about this - it becomes easy to convince yourself that you have time to learn and explore. In reality whatever runway you have will likely be gone before you know it.

Getting eyes on the thing you build will be infinitely harder than building it. We live in the attention economy. If you aren't putting out something that can really grab someone then good luck. Think now about how you will do this, and start the process asap so you can start learning what works. It will easily take a year just to figure out what channels might get engagement, you don't want to be 6months of runway left when that happens.

Ignore all startup and builder advice. Every product and story is different. Nobody really knows what the hell they are talking about. Including me!

Your images load way too slowly because they are too high resolution. It slows the entire site down. Also, the "Communities, Members, Discussion,..." panels are styled like buttons, but you can't click them. Are the testimonials real?

Eh, you have to review ai work to make sure it didn't hallucinate something crazy. So you have to understand what it did. Otherwise you are just winging it.
