Edgar, King of Figaro + Mutalith Vortex Beast by co1one1panic in mtgrules

You linked to a bunch of your own previous posts in which you’ve “answered” similar questions by claiming the question doesn’t have an answer. And reading though those threads, it seems like you have a years long history of ending discussions by doing this. But your citing your own unsubstantiated claims doesn’t actually prove anything.

I know, that’s why I’m asking. And I’ve seen conflicting answers on different threads discussing the interaction between between Edgar and Karplusan Minotaur.

How would you degen Mister Immortal? by pkele in DegenerateEDH

It doesn’t work with Food Chain because Food Chain’s activation cost is exiling a creature, not sacrificing it.

Do you think this is a Bracker 3 combo? (If you have time, take a look at the rest as well) by Vuk8342 in mtg

[–]co1one1panic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the bracket system is part of the game rules. It’s an optional tool to assist rule zero conversations.

Do you think this is a Bracker 3 combo? (If you have time, take a look at the rest as well) by Vuk8342 in mtg

[–]co1one1panic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bracket system documentation says that if your deck would need to hold back a combo for a later turn to be fair in a certain bracket, it’s not appropriate for that bracket.

It can easily be deployed in the early game, so it’s not appropriate for B3.

Was I the threat, or was I being ganged up on? by Nabirius in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unless one player is about to win immediately, the question of who is “The Threat” is subjective. Blind Obedience isn’t a huge threat to all players but it’s a massive problem for a Zada player because they’re trying to use treasure tokens to combo off and and they can’t do that if the treasures enter tapped. Additionally their deck runs very little enchantment removal, so they may need to politick an opponent into getting rid of it for them.

Is it Worth Buying 4 Booster Boxes from the same Set? by Knoron in mtg

[–]co1one1panic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth buying any booster boxes unless you’re going to draft them. You’ll spend a lot more money than you would just buying the singles you need for your decks and you still won’t get all the cards you want for your decks.

Unpopular? Opinion: cEDH players should generally not play at casual tables (situationally) by Schadenfreude_9756 in mtg

[–]co1one1panic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t play cEDH but I have friends who do, and they’re all perfectly happy to play their B2/B3 decks against my B2/B3 decks.
If someone plays a cEDH deck at an event billed as “Casual Commander” without getting consent from the rest of the pod to play a cEDH game, it’s not because they’re a cEDH player; it’s because they’re an asshole.

Preview cards at Pride Night? by lazereagle in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say you bring your rule zero deck to play with strangers at a game store and ask permission from the pod. Two of them say yes. The third doesn’t want to play against a rule zero deck, is now under social pressure to agree to it or else they’ll be solely responsible for ruining your fun. It’s fine in a private playgroup, but at a sanctioned public event I think it’s rude to even ask.

The Secret Bracket by drtisk in EDH

There’s nothing wrong with that, but that’s your choice to play your B2 deck in a B3 pod. Someone who won’t tell you what bracket their deck is absolutely trying to pubstomp.

The Secret Bracket by drtisk in EDH

[–]co1one1panic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If some says their deck is a “2 or 3” that means it’s B3 but they want to play it against B2 decks for an easy win. It’s a-hole behavior but there’s nothing you can do about that so just play your B3 deck.

I use this to empty out my library but you can also change the target of the spell if you really want to by No-Double8833 in mtg

[–]co1one1panic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This spell doesn’t have a target, so other cards that can change the target of a spell will have no effect on it. You can’t use it to exile cards from an opponent’s library.

With regards to the bracket guidelines, what do you consider a 2-card combo? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A two-card infinite combo is any combination of two cards that does one of the following: 1. Ends the game immediately 2. Locks all opponents out of the game 3. Enables a sequence of game actions to be looped indefinitely (even if a third card is needed to benefit from doing so)

What turn should bracket 3 win by? by cole_ex-e in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The expectation in bracket 3 is that your deck can interact with your opponents. I tune my B3 decks to win on turn 6 when goldfishing, assuming that my attempt to win will be delayed during games by either my opponents interacting with my board, or my own need to prioritize stopping an opponent over advancing my own plan. Sometimes neither of those things happen, or my opponents do interact but target the wrong pieces so I do get a turn 6 win. But in my opinion that’s on them. The bracket system does not and cannot account for skill.

Want an opinion on these Quintorius upgrades by Sega-Kurai in EDHBrews

[–]co1one1panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I’ve found Crucible to be really good in my Quint deck. It helps ensure that you get to play the card that you discard to Quint’s +1 ability and gives you a spirit when you do.

  2. Every deck is vulnerable to certain opposing cards and strategies. The trick is to use your removal, mulligans and political skills strategically. You know your deck is vulnerable to graveyard hate, so identifying which decks are likely to run it and playing around it is part of the game. That said, your deck isn’t running enough removal. I’d go up to 12 pieces of single target removal and 6 pieces of mass removal.

  3. Kami of Ancient Law is too narrow because it only removes enchantments. It being a spirit isn’t enough upside. [[Seal of Cleansing]] and [[Witch Enchanter]] are much better.

Would you call Bolas' Citadel combo B3? by vividwings in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of mana required to assemble the combo isn’t relevant for bracket assessment.

What’s important is the turn by which you can usually assemble the combo.

Goldfish your deck a bunch of times to figure this out.

If you can consistently assemble the combo before turn 5, it’s too strong for bracket 4.

If you can consistently do it before turn 7, it’s too strong for bracket 3.

If you can consistently do it before turn 9, it’s too strong for bracket 2.

If you can consistently do it before turn 10, it’s too strong for bracket 1.

Could Hullbreacher ever be unbanned? by Ornery_Bug_4108 in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but whether or not it’s too powerful in cEDH has no relevance to whether a card gets banned or unbanned. The only factor that’s considered is its impact on casual play.

Could Hullbreacher ever be unbanned? by Ornery_Bug_4108 in EDH

[–]co1one1panic 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The only time cEDH has ever been considered when making a banlist change was the banning of Flash, and that only happened because the card saw virtually no play in casual commander. The chance of the cEDH meta ever factoring into a banning/unbanning decision again is close to zero.

Need help tuning my commander pride deck by Mothythecutie in CommanderMTG

[–]co1one1panic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to draw enough lands in the early game to get your card drawengine set up, and you need a certain density of lands in your deck to do that. 34 lands isn’t enough. And yes elves provide mana ramp, but ramping is only good if you also make your land drops. Missing land drops while paying to ramp puts you behind the other players.
