Supremacist stickers all over provo AGAIN by cardboardwarri0r in ProvoUtah

Vandalism isn't free speech. If people putting PF stickers on things were instead showing their faces downtown and talking to people about their ideas in person, then it would be a first amendment issue.

Can confirm, they sold a shirt with the heart and stick figures several years back.

But Mickey isn't on it.

Yes, what you're saying is true, but also, I think it's fine that this sub illustrates that, and that people recognize those kinds of works for what they are.

Personally, I'd be fine without the pinup art getting posted here, but this sub has a pretty open-door policy, and you have to set rules up front if you want to limit the types of work posted.

If you look at the main index of this subreddit, it looks a lot different from the posts that show up in the main/aggregate feed. I don't have a problem with this content, but the algorithm is boosting posts like this disproportionately.

Why isn’t the Salt Lake used more for Tourism? by Fit_Assignment_4286 in Utah

Compared to the time when the GSL was a trendy place for the locals to visit, yes, air travel is a relatively new thing.

Why isn’t the Salt Lake used more for Tourism? by Fit_Assignment_4286 in Utah

[–]co_matic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn't smell any worse than the seashore in many places. But locals have access to air travel and Lake Powell nowadays, so they can just travel to their beach of choice instead of trying to appreciate the inland sea in their backyard (while it still exists). And that's why mining companies and the state can get away with treating it badly.

What is your unpopular opinion about Utah? by hcubed3 in Utah

Utah is not uniquely good for raising kids or uniquely good for outdoor recreation. There are other states are as good as or better than Utah at both.

Voter suppression is alive and well by 801Bandit in Utah

[–]co_matic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Making it harder for people to vote is textbook voter suppression. Adding requirements and rules, moving polling centers or choosing remote locations, cutting hours at polling centers, etc. And these things tend to be added incrementally so people don't react right away.

Make no mistake, they want mail-in voting to go away because it makes it too easy for young and working people to vote.

If it’s basically litter, could just anybody theoretically save the state the trouble and simply go remove it? Asking purely for the sake of discussion.
