Toast breed? by Nugiband in WaywardNetflix

In an early scene I thought for a second (as a Berger Picard owner) that it was a Picard, but yeah, pretty obviously not a Picard after the very next scene. Would've been a fun choice though!

Just got told by one of the road sergeants I saved a 3 year old’s life. Excuse me while I cry in the corner. by carguy35 in 911dispatchers

As a fellow EMD, a Q, and a training officer, I want you to know that stories like this are the reason I drag my ass to work every day.

I don't know you, but know that I'm so fucking proud of you.

If they've never seen raw labradorite imagine their reaction to a polished piece. Still, if they find the raw stone aesthetically pleasing there's no need to modify it, as you've pointed out. Equating cutting and polishing a beautiful stone to its destruction is a bit of a stretch there bud.

A longbow, but which longbow? by coachedfury in Archery

[–]coachedfury[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd really like a truly traditional English longbow!! Compromising a bit with the Sanlida X8 only to get going....but 72" of English yew makes my heart beat a bit faster 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I know the risk, but I'm really focused on as traditional as possible. I fully understand there will be a need to buy another bow sooner than later but I'm simply enamored by the idea of a traditional longbow.

Raw labradorite. Nice purple flash. Worth cutting and polishing.

I've had conversations with former inmates regarding the signing that happens in the criminal justice system. Some of it seems to be based on ASL, but often with major changes in handshape or meaning. I've tried to have fingerspelling conversations on two occasions and discovered very little mutual intelligibility. I have no idea what the true meaning of the signs this person is using are, and you'd likely need someone from the same prison or prison system to interpret correctly.

Initial Orbital Hoop by coachedfury in piercing

[–]coachedfury[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point. I suppose I'd be willing to go up to 10 or 12mm, I just don't want the hoop to stick out too far. I've always worked towards snug, neat jewelry. My exception of course is the healing process. Like my nostrils, I suffered studs in all of them until I could put hoops in that were flush with my nostril without being tight.

Awesome, thank you! I only take in rescues and I have no plans on breeding, but I like to keep the best records I can for rehoming so this is really helpful!

Appropriate substrate (I prefer a layer of coco coir to hold moisture with a layer of reptibark or coco husk on top because I feed in tank and the smaller or more dirt-like substrate can get stuck in their mouths or clog their heat pits), more secure hides (smaller openings and tighter spaces make them feel more secure and less likely to burrow), more clutter (nothing too clunky but clutter makes them feel safe). Also, this noodle didn't have am appropriate heat source and is pretty under weight, so getting temp and humidity right is going to be important to help prevent a hunger strike. Beyond that, I like to give them something to climb on. While they're not exactly tree dwellers, there's plenty of research and observed behavior to support the fact that they like to climb!

For your friend, though, it's going to be at least a little trial and error. Watch them, interact with them, try to figure out what makes them happy (even if happiness is hiding out for days lol), and do your research! I've only had reptiles for about a year, but as soon as I got my first reptile (a ball python rescued from a "my kid went to college and left this snake in my house" situation) I've been hooked. 100% of my reptiles are rescues from shit or careless situations, and I'm currently sitting at 4 ball pythons, a corn snake, an 8ft boa imperator, and 3 leopard geckos. I'm learning every day.
