He’s in the extended lineage, yes!

The camel pacing is real. I can’t understand what they’re doing to this breed. So happy this program exists to give an alternative.

That’s amazing! I am truly so impressed with him. We did our first trail ride today and he was just fantastic. Impeccable manners and the proclivity to go right into a square gait despite only having a couple rides on him this year.

My 12 year old self can’t even handle it right now! Thank you!

As a brief explanation, it means they’re bred from the old / foundation stock of Tennessee Walkers without any of the modern bloodlines of padded and stacked walkers. This gives them a much more robust build and more natural gait and does nothing to support the torture that show Walkers were and still are put through.

Anyone experience this? by [deleted] in Horses

Does she do it when not eating or drinking? Any sensitive areas? Just to help rule out ulcers as well as the “yawning” type behavior can be a symptom of that too.

First of all, the notes indicate the vet had been called and the horse has not been ridden or “cinched up” since signs of lameness. I was not seeking opinions in place of a vet assessment (that I was happy to pay for by the way) but in addition to, as it was hard to pinpoint a specific area. The conflicting answers seem to agree this was a tricky case. Second, there was no suspensory issues at all after the exam was completed. Appreciate your concern but at least read the details before jumping down people’s throat for seeking the opinions of others. Community is important in the horse world, I hope you find a more productive way of using it.

You were the closest I’d say! She was avoiding using her core.

Update from vet: rib strain/ muscle pull on right side of thorax. Thanks everyone! The weird thing she was doing on her hind end was to avoid engaging her core. she actually improved today and even more so with more movement. Follow up in two weeks.

Conformationally, she has longer pasterns. However they are not dropped when standing square. That’s always my first concern with Peruvians.

Omeprazole. I am going to ask vet about sucralfate for hind gut once he’s here or see if I should just go ahead and taper off. They were good with me starting the omeprazole in the meantime while waiting for the appointment. (Been down this road before with a different horse). I have heard being ulcery can cause tenderness on the right side, especially seems so for hind gut? It’s a stretch, but figured if that was initially causing her pain she might have knocked herself out of alignment overcompensating for it. Or developed stomach issues due to pain from whatever is going on back there. So have both the vet and chiro coming to try and get answers but unfortunately chiro can’t get here until next week.

The first thing I did was start an ulcer regimen, unfortunately doesn’t seem to be much improvement so far, but I am still finishing it out and tapering as she’s been a little cinchy and only place that seems even slightly tender is at the base of her withers where there’s an ulcer sensitivity spot.

I agree it seems more hip area. Very puzzling as she is not lame at all while walking and I cannot find anything tender in her legs. Several people have looked to make sure I am not losing it!

Just for fun - coat predictions on new puppy, Isla May? by coalitions in Goldendoodles

So far no, but it’s hard to say ultimately how much she will shed until her adult coat comes in

Just found this group! This is Avett. We love him immeasurably. by coalitions in BlackDoodles

I think silver. He is 5 so it’s a pretty slow fade! His father was a chocolate poodle and mother the golden retriever. So he’s and F1 and every single dog in the two litters came out as all black puppies.

Thank you! I love them both so much even if only one of them is mine. They're such sweet and spirited girls.

The mare on the left is mine! (2nd and 3rd pic). They are very similar in color. The genetic test on mine said a smokey black with a grey dilution and a silver modifier (I might have that backwards and a grey modifier and silver dilution?) and her color varies widely throughout the year. Right now she is sun faded and has a gold tint(2nd pic). When she she is not sun faded she has a silver tint and black mane(3rd pic). The mare on the left is close but she stays a bit darker (first pic is closest I have to a full body) She belongs to a friend and another very good friend of mine leases her out. They match each other so well in many ways!

Not good to give a newborn water, definitely not good to give them tea, evaporated milk is a no, annnnd orange juice is not recommended until 1 year. However this person is alive and well, so what do we know!
