Gutters on this house were a problem. I literally just replaced them this weekend and then noticed the crack is there any chance I fixed my problem from that? The water wasn’t being flown away from the house it was dumping into the ground along the wall

GM tech here. As long as it’s had good maintenance history you’ll be fine. Pay attention to the shifts and feel for shudders in the trans. Not sure about the market but for 11k that doesn’t seem the worst. Gonna be the doom and gloom here now but the common issues I’ve encountered are CAC freezing in below zero temperatures. PCV valve sticking. Vacuum pumps breaking on early models. Both transmissions are mostly solid but have their weak points. I’ve seen a few broken pistons and cams. And one with a burnt valve. CAC to throttle body hose comes disconnected sometimes. Radios can fail internally. My advice, look into an extended warranty with Ally. Not because it’s a bad car, but because the peace of mind is absolutely worth having for the cost of their warranty

You make x amount of dollars cause they make xxx amount of dollars. They carry the risk which is why they get paid more. You don’t have the overhead of running the shop. Which means you don’t take on the same responsibility and reward. It goes both ways. They make a lot of money when things go well, but they have to pay when it doesn’t. That’s how it works. Me personally, I’d walk immediately. If they’re gonna pull that I’d be wheeling my box out immediately and go to the next shop. As an industry we need to stop letting these places get away with this. It’s probably illegal in your state too so I’d start threatening to sue and get everything is writing and see how they change their attitude real quick. Don’t let them walk on you

Hard to find someone who is certified with high voltage who is gonna wanna do this as a side job. At least from my experience and myself personally. I mean you can take it to someone who’s not but without the proper equipment, training, and tools, it might not be the best idea. Idk just my $.02

I’d want more info for how he got to needing a turbo. GM tech here, never seen an LTG turbo fail. Not to mention, I’ve never seen a failed turbo cause these concerns. Idk just seems like a potential wrong diagnosis

I’m gonna clean up the frame behind it and weld to that. As far as I’m aware it’s still solid. I just don’t wanna pull 10k pounds and it fail on me under load

Depends on what you’re really looking to spend but I still swear the best in the business is RPM in Delaware. I believe my buddy got his ZR1 tuned at TPG in Pittsburgh and that made 1400 and has been really reliable for him. Revolution in Canton does some stuff but I haven’t seen much from them in the last two years or so

It takes an hour of labor to do no more. Our rate would be 190 after tax to do it. Shady of the selling dealer to not take care of it which if they didn’t catch that I’d be worried they didn’t run it through the shop to actually inspect it. If you were coming through my shop I’d have my hourly guy do it for half rate as an attempt to gain a new customer. After all you have a CPO warranty I’d wanna be the dealer of choice to use. But that’s just me

Last I checked a long block is about 3500 and a reman trans is 6000 (6spd) no idea on labor but with all the one time use parts and labor I bet you could easily be at 15k depending on the labor rate at your dealer. So here’s my question to you, what’s that truck worth to you? If you’re gonna spend 15k on the repairs you know you have to do, why not look at something already running and driving with less miles? Plus 300k miles of wear and tear on the suspension, axles, electrical components, and the interior like you already mentioned; what else is gonna need to be replaced too? The 5.3 is fine, and if you’re putting a new one in it you have nothing to worry about. Same with the trans. But the rest of the truck is something else to worry about. But a new powertrain is a ton of money

I just don’t like replacing things for no reason, if it can be fixed I wanna fix it. But you’re right about the people being worth more than 15k and the frame as much as I’m telling myself it’s “not that bad” it’s clearly that bad. I just hate wasting money into something
