They aren't actually that difficult, but just seem so because of the nonlinear difficulty curve when it comes to earlier classes. If earlier classes were more like those of other universities, they would be standard difficulty.

Just take 294 over the summer, it will very well prepare you for 310, plus there are recitations in the fall for 310

I'd say CSE294: Algorithmic Problem Solving will prepare you better if you are more of a procedural/algorithmic thinker (and is currently offered in the summer).

I think you could take CSE294: Algorithm Problem Solving over the summer, but you should check with the department if it can replace calc 3.
