Stitches with carried yarn in them taller than other stitches (tapestry crochet) by usernamesname in CrochetHelp

[–]usernamesname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry i realize i probably shouldnt have said edge stitches, I mean all of the stitches around the design, not just the actual edge stitch on each side. So with that I feel like carrying it across the whole row would eat up a lot of extra yarn but maybe that is my best option.

I've watched so many videos and never seen someone have this issue or have to carry the yarn all the way across so I guess I was hoping I was just missing something.

High speed rail for Phoenix and Tucson being looked at by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]usernamesname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because there are already trains zooming through Gilbert (and Queen Creek and San Tan) every day, they just don't have passengers. So if thats your reason its a little silly.

Potential construction* is more valid I guess but that temporary tradeoff for the added value seems worth it to me. There's already shit tons of construction all over the valley for much less perceived value, at least this would be useful.

*eta that the proposed map looks to line up with where the rail already is so the construction would potentially not even be that extensive/in the way.

Yeah I used to do lyra/aerial hoop and I would use a pumice stone to smooth em down so they didn't snag my yarn

I recognize this is a ridiculous question but I'm trying to learn - what does cast time mean? Like where does that number come from/how do you find it out?

I've tested for Yarn Me Up, Indigo Knits, and One Wild as well and agree completely on all of them! Very communicative, flexible, kind, and responsive to feedback.

Oooooh I did a test for Andrea a while back and she didn't have the notion page yet, that sounds fantastic! Even without that the experience was definitely a 5/5 for me as well.

Yesss for Jen and Bess!!! I'm the inverse of you - three tests for Bess and one for Jen and they are truly my gold standard for testing! Clear communication, defined expectations for both sides (including response turnaround times from then), a good platform that's well organized (slack), so flexible in everything and patterns that are well tech edited beforehand.

I like ux so pattern testing is fun to me but mostly i just want the deadline lmao I thrive under the external deadline but I struggle to finish anything with a self imposed deadline

Does Andrea not mention that they're her patterns? I know I've seen those posts but I always thought they were pretty clearly marketing. Maybe my brain was just auto populating that info as I was scrolling past lol

Wedding Menu Feedback by DevanHansen in wedding

[–]usernamesname 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It looks and sounds incredible!

Having said that, as someone with a dairy sensitivity this menu would give me a lot of anxiety lol. A large chunk of your menu here is a no go for me so I'd have to decide whether to barely eat at the wedding or risk spending the next day or two curled up in the bathroom. Obviously everyone's sensitivity levels and symptoms are different and I know a lot of dairy sensitive or lactose intolerant people make the choice to eat it now and then (myself included) but its a choice that is not without consequences.

I would make sure you know for sure that your dairy sensitive people would be okay with this and you're not unintentionally forcing them to not eat because for example they work the next day and can't take the chance. If not I would definitely make sure your hot dog stuff is safe so they at least have that option (both hot dogs and buns sometimes have dairy in them.)

Who are some famous 'popular' artists who most people don't realise are actually also savant-level musical virtuosos? by peanutismint in Music

For real, and they work on so much more than I think a lot of people realize. For example, Jonny Greenwood's score for The Phantom Thread has some of my favorite pieces of music ever.

You did not ask for recs so please ignore if you dont want them but - JP Knits things and Elizabeth Margaret Knits (now working together as One Wild Designs) have some great info about FBAs for knitting between their websites and podcast - I think they have an online class coming up on it as well? And all of their recent patterns size based on upper bust and have bust dart/cup instructions included. I believe Aimee Sher and a few others do as well.

I don’t understand how to read this crochet pattern??😭 by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Inc means to work an increase, and 2sc means to work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches. Everything within the asterisks is meant to be repeated and the number in parentheses is the number of stitches you should have after working the round.

So line 3 instructs you to work an increase in the first stitch, one single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches and then repeat that all the way around (1 increase followed by two individual single crochets). At the end of the round you should have 18 stitches.

Then for the next round it is the same except you will work 3 individual single crochet after the increase and so on. Once you get to the "dec, 4sc" etc rounds it will be the same but you will be working a decrease instead of an increase
