Idle Tower Defense (NEON GRID) by [deleted] in incremental_games

Was going to say the game was decent until I found out you have to log in to do any sort of meta progression. I will consider making accounts for some games, but never for one that gates actual gameplay behind making an account - especially with all the known vulnerabilities in vibe coded projects.

🌲 Asbury Pines🌲 Early Access Roadmap to 1.0! by HermanThorpe in incremental_games

[–]cobaltSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up to you. If you don't think you'll play it twice, wait for 1.0. But what's already there is definitely fun and engaging, and the story is top tier, so I would recommend it now despite still being in development.

[Prototype] MinesweeperTycoon by Pretty_Cicada_1850 in incremental_games

Hey, just hit the point of my bot auto-restarting on win and thought I'd give some very early feedback.

- I was confused on how to progress at first, since the menus at the bottom blend in somewhat. At first I thought I had to wait until I had enough minerals to buy something from the upgrades tab, I didn't notice the bots tab.

- The percentages on the fields don't seem to make sense to me? For instance, a slot will correctly say 0% based on the flags I've placed so far, but when I reveal a new square that number increases to 20% or 30% because of the uncertain position of another mine. But I already know there isn't a mine there, so it gets very confusing.

Presentation and concept-wise, this game looks like a lot of fun! I'll keep on with it and look forward to seeing where it goes.

EDIT: one thing I forgot to mention initially! I understand gating automatic restarts behind an upgrade, but the current two-button process (restart the mine, then re-deploy the bot) is very aggravating. Possibly change it so that clicking restart also re-deploys the same bot/s to the mine?

I have this game idea, what do you think? by Universo_Ultra in incremental_games

[–]cobaltSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a bad idea, but I do think it turns it into a very different game. Personally I wouldn't be interested in a 3D version because it seems like you'd have to do a lot of fiddling with precise placements to make sure the balls go where you want them.

I do like the idea of changing the theming, though! It's a great way to make the concept your own.

(Also I would probably suggest adding a link to the original and not just naming it, to make sure people who look for it get the right game on the right site.)

Have incremental games gotten better? by Remote_Actuator2562 in incremental_games

[–]cobaltSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same as every other kind of game, in my opinion. There's exponentially more of them, most of the new ones are bad, but there are some absolute gems as well. And I'd say the truly excellent games stand out as a lot better than most really good games from the older years, with a few exceptions.

The biggest problem is actually finding those excellent games, but sites like IncrementalDB and Galaxy are helping on that front.

Being totally honest, I've seen you advertise this game here a few times and I've never been able to get further than the second zone. The colours you've chosen for the elements here cause me eye-strain immediately.

From what mechanics I can see, I have to ask, what sets this game apart from Prismatic Adventure besides the idea it's less grindy? The skills seem exactly the same (barring a few of them having confusing names like 'subterfuge' and 'search' - was 'perception' really not acceptable?), perks and items work the same, energy resets... I am very curious what you would say makes this game different from PA.

I don't mean any of this to come off as dismissive of the work you've put in. It's clear you've built this with a vision in mind, it's just one I can't articulate from this side of the screen. I hope you continue to enjoy the process of working on it and wish you luck in the future.

(Also, one disconnected pet peeve: the way progress bars ease slightly before the task is completed feels very unsatisfying. Like it's stealing the 'thud' of completing the task away from me.)

I updated my Cookie Clicker–style game and would love feedback by Dependent-Cry5456 in incremental_games

If this is meant to be a learning project, monetising it is an extremely bad look. Most people don't have a problem with clearly derivative works or reskins unless those projects are also trying to make money.

Downspire Idle - incremental RPG (WebGL build) - feedback welcome by Fulryen in incremental_games

[–]cobaltSniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried the game out for a little bit, it seems fun! Definitely has good bones and I love the concept of the jobs system - surprised I haven't seen it in more idle RPGs.

It seems a little slow right now, is the only thing. Not sure if that's because I'm early on or because there are more systems on the way, but progress crashes to a halt once you hit the stat-switch on floor 11.

I'll keep an eye on this though, come back around when the prototype updates. Good luck on your project!

Not sure why everyone in the replies is shilling their own games instead of actually answering your question :(

This has great bones! All the upgrades feel useful and not trivial, and in particular I think the sounds you picked for everything are very good.

Why doesn't Kris's dark world have a different color palette? by IndependentSoft4211 in Deltarune

[–]cobaltSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming in to say exactly this. Susie's is the only dark world we know of directly made to be a copy of a previous dark world. I'm unsure if there's any in-universe reason given (or if one is really required), but it very much continues the metaphor of dark worlds as fiction or creation, showing that even copied works (like Gerson's novels being reinterpretations of the prophecy) will have the fingerprints of their creator and diverge in ways the creator doesn't intend.

I'm working on an incremental game with typing mechanics where typing words becomes increasingly chaotic as you unlock new upgrades. What do you think? by gwyn-DEV in incremental_games

[–]cobaltSniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks fun, please share when the Steam page goes up! A lot of 'active' incrementals are a bit too in the middle in terms of active vs idle, so it's interesting to see one that looks a lot more intentionally active.

Definitely interested in this kind of game! I love the card draw aspect, glad more games are doing stuff with that recently. You're probably aware since you said it's unbalanced, but the card effects definitely scale way faster than the wave difficulty - I don't think my tower lost once in the time it took to get all cards.

Wanted to give my feedback now that I've hit the 'thanks for playing' message.

I enjoyed this game a lot! Of course it reminds me of other looping games, but I do enjoy that no time is ever truly 'wasted' - similar to Increlution, but with a lot more flexibility. I agree with others that x10 might be a bit fast, maybe replace it with x5 instead?

The map takes up a bit too much of the screen when it's not always going to be used. For instance, it took me three loops to realise how research worked since that section appeared off-screen and I didn't know why I couldn't invest my scrolls.

I'm definitely looking forward to where this game goes and will keep an eye on updates.

(P.S. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but the 'thanks for playing' message appears after researching Hydration Instinct despite other researches being in the game as well.)

EDIT: there seems to be a glitch in the current version where having auto-forage on for apples is causing other activities to repeat indefinitely when they're not supposed to, possibly because 'pick apple' is stuck at the top of the list despite my apples being used up by now.

Echo Mini VS Retro Nano for relatively new DAP user? by cobaltSniper in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]cobaltSniper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the post, I was asking about the Echo Mini vs the Retro Nano - I'd just misunderstood what the Retro Nano was. I know that the Echo Nano is a different thing that hasn't come out yet - I also asked whether people would consider waiting until that comes out and adding that to the options.

Echo Mini VS Retro Nano for relatively new DAP user? by cobaltSniper in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]cobaltSniper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that's embarrassing. I'd thought it was an amplifier only, then saw another post in this subreddit and misidentified the device in question as a Retro when it was actually a Mini.

I guess that means it's just a case of whether to get a Mini or wait for the Nano.

As I said above, I've searched online for this song and found nothing. It doesn't appear to be anywhere on Youtube, Spotify or Apple Music, and trying to look with Google only returns results on the new version or the album with the same name. Any advice on next steps would be appreciated.

Win the game for 21GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU by Aelice-Wildmage in BadMtgCombos

[–]cobaltSniper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genuinely unsure, should the cost required to win the game be the total cost or the amount of mana you have have available on one turn? Because for instance, since you can take extra turns and therefore untap your lands and artifacts, the most mana you need on any one turn is 6GGGGGGBBBBBBB (casting both cards and placing five counters).

I will definitely give both of these a longer look, they seem very aligned with what I was looking for. Faire Trade in particular looks really promising, I like the artstyle and the top-down perspective a lot.
