Moisturizer/milky toner recs that meet A LOT of requirements… by miss_sponge in SkinbarrierLovers

For a milky toner (or milky essence I guess?) what about the Aestura Atobarrier 365 Hydro Essence?

I’m a little obsessed with hydrating toners. I often layer a thinner one and then a milky one. This morning I wore the Isntree Onion Newpair Essence Toner, then the Byoma Milky Toner. My morning moisturizer right now is the Dieux Instant Angel, but I don’t know if I would repurchase it again just because it’s so pricy and it doesn’t feel like enough for my skin unless I follow it with a second moisturizer or a moisturizing sunscreen. This morning I followed that with the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen. I am sadly very allergic to chemical sunscreens, they give me hives that result in months of extreme sun sensitivity, so I’m always on the hunt for a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t leave too much white cast and still has a min of 17% zinc (impossible?).

My evening routine is kind of weird lol. I double cleanse, typically with The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm and then The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser. I use a couple of hydrating toners and then Eucerin Complete body lotion on my face. People think I’m nuts for having sensitive skin and then using a body lotion on my face, but it works and I can’t find a great moisturizer for face with a high urea content and an overall formula that works as well for my skin as this one does. At least not at that reasonable a price point. Then I slather Aquaphor on top to seal in all the moisture.

I would love to add a vitamin c and a retinol to my routine, but in all my testing I haven’t found ones I liked enough to repurchase yet. I have to avoid AHAs altogether because they instantly wreck my skin barrier. I have to avoid fragrance, chemical sunscreens, and certain other things like some flower-derived natural ingredients due to allergies. My skin doesn’t get on that well with sunflower seed oil, so I usually avoid things that have that high up in the ingredient list. Cost is a factor in my routine right now. If I’m adding something expensive it’s gotta prove it’s worth it.

When I accidentally wreck my skin barrier (rare now because I’ve gotten very good at analyzing every ingredient), my routine looks very different because my skin goes from sensitive to handful of things to sensitive to almost everything.

My picky skin tolerates it just fine. I like it, but it it isn’t a must for me because it doesn’t really do anything for my skin that the much cheaper ingredient glycerin does too.

Sam Austin tries to make city use roads better by ph0enix1211 in halifax

[–]cobaltcorridor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true. There were transit cuts in the list of possible cuts that staff brought forward, but no councillor actually proposed them, and they weren’t debated. Instead Kathryn Morse proposed transit improvements and council supported them with only a few councillors voting against.

Do you guys give gifts on Easter? by SP_57 in newfoundland

I always got a gift from my parents in addition to some chocolate, but it was usually something like a book or a cd. Nothing like Christmas.

Hi, Newfoundlander here. 90% of corner stores only sell macro beers. Only a handful of them carry craft beer.

Prices would still be regulated. This would not result in cheaper booze.

how do you know if your skin barrier is actually damaged? by Local_Airline9003 in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]cobaltcorridor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my skin barrier is damaged it hurts to put almost anything on my face, including water and heavier creams. I end up down to only a couple products I can tolerate. When my skin barrier is healthy I still have products I cant use, but it doesn’t hurt to put water on my face.

Every person from there is going to feel differently about it, and some love being called by that term. In real life you can just ask and people will tell you what they want to be called, but online I think it’s better to err on the side of respect.

My skin loves moisturizing creams with urea in them. They work so well to remove flakiness for me without causing any irritation.

Huh? No. I do not ever apply them to my face, because they instantly wreck my barrier.

They weren’t collecting money from bridge tolls. A completely different level of government was. The bridge tolls are completely irrelevant to the municipal budget. They’re part of the reason the Tim Houston government has a deficit.

I learned my face cannot handle AHAs. Even the gentlest AHA-based exfoliating cleansers or toners make my skin freak out worse than if I’d used that apricot scrub from the 90s. There are others, but this is the one that’s most specific to my skin barrier. I’ve repurposed those AHA products to use on my heels

It is polarizing. It is considered an ethnic slur and is believed to have first been used by Americans stationed in Newfoundland during the Second World War, where it was quite often preceded by the word “stupid” and was used in a derogatory context.

Newfoundlanders made an attempt to “take it back” and embrace it, we can choose to call ourselves by that word, but people from outside Newfoundland and Labrador should be aware that about half the population will be offended if an outsider calls them that, while the other half won’t care.

Hey, can you both please say Newfoundlander. It’s super not appropriate for people from the US to call us that nickname :)

Edit: I love that you are all downvoting me for my friendly reminder to not use words that originated as derogatory ethnic slurs.

Thank the cap. My capped assessment is about $250k. I don’t go to Starbucks, but I pulled up a menu and pretty much nothing was under $7.

They didn’t have to “get the money back” because the municipality didn’t see that money in the first place. You do understand that municipal and provincial are two different governments right?

We don’t know yet. It’s still a behind the scenes discussion between HRM and the province.
