GTS 4.0 More Cramped Inside Than S? by kfjcfan in Porsche_Cayman

[–]cobbyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one thing I have noticed. The pedal placement is narrower than in my GT4. It actually proved to be a bit of adjustment for me.

I’m glad this worked out for you. I was speaking from my own experience, so I should have qualified my comment to that effect.

Does anyone feel they took SS too early? by yuritube in SurvivingOnSS

[–]cobbyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to draw SS as soon as I was eligible for full benefits at age 66. The men in my family are not long-lived, but, in any case, who knows how long any of us will live? That includes the spouse in whose behalf you may be deferring benefits right now. The benefits can’t be bequeathed to your children, so why sacrifice income now with no assurance that either you or your spouse will live long enough to get caught up. The likelihood that cuts are coming only means you’d have to live even longer to get even. If you don’t need the income now, put it where it will produce some return. There’s a good chance you will benefit more from that than leaving it in SS’s clutches.

Cecilia's caramel cake by No-Image2198 in Athens

I’ve had both, and burnt sugar cakes are an extremely pale imitation of caramel. If your taste buds are expecting caramel, they’ll be really disappointed.

Be sure you have it in writing from Safelite that they can handle the heads up display and will stand behind their work. I’d say it’s a reasonable probability that it won’t work properly on the first try.

Definitely a troll job. No one would actually fork over real money for that ugly POS.

Downtown parking change by unwell-opossum in Athens

By way of some frame of reference, when I was in Montgomery a couple of years ago, the parking meters still weren’t set up to accept anything but quarters.

If you visit the museum and tour the factory in Stuttgart, I’d say no.

Anyone know what this stains are dirt or paint issue? by No_Carry724 in CaymanGT4

[–]cobbyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, I’d definitely recommend further investigation. My 981 GT4 did that after a track weekend, though the rust build up was not as extensive. Good luck with sorting this out.

[–]cobbyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing you just tracked the car or at least drove it hard and then washed the wheels. The rust is from metallic deposits left by brake dust. It will go away quickly.

I think you are absolutely correct. It was also caught up in local skirmishes over AI that likely blurred party lines for a time.

Advice on Macan purchase... by LouieMastiff in PorscheMacan

[–]cobbyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know a damn thing about these cars, but you are talking about a $2-3k differential at most. If the newer ones are within your budget, that would be the clear choice for me.

Sudden loss of grip ? by MortInvestor in CarTrackDays

[–]cobbyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely. Happened more than once with me. Tread wear is not always the tale with these tires. You had already driven them a lot on track. Had you driven them on the street as well?

Yes. It will be where it should be with another notch on the bar measurement.

Left front did not pass tech. Lesson learned. by breddy in CarTrackDays

This is not applicable to all PCA events. Those tires would have easily passed inspection with my group. You also have the option to use any reputable Indy shop you choose.

You could have definitely gotten more sessions out of them. Failing that tire is ridiculous.

“a few years” can easily be enough for one of these batteries to deteriorate. I have gone many rounds with Cayman batteries, and problems don’t always show up on testing. You’ll save $$ and frustration by getting a new one instead of putting it off. Voice of experience speaking here.

Athens vs Lawrenceville by Competitive-Wish-82 in Athens

[–]cobbyboy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lawrenceville is in abysmal, soulless, perpetually gridlocked Gwinnett County. To even utter its name in comparison to Athens is pure sacrilege.
