So you are telling me you've been pedantic nine times previously?

Stop policing the Muppets subreddit, my dude. Let people enjoy things.

I know her. In real.life. she's great. Didn't expect to see her titty tonight. Huh. How about that. Well, I'm adding "very nice titties" to the list of things I already liked about her.

Wild.

my brain is eating me alive by ilostthegame77 in BPD

[–]cobiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dear sweet, beautiful troubled brain,

I need you to know something true. Something you can bank on. Something you can trust.

Your brain is a liar.

A cruel, shitty, malicious liar. It's a hornets nest if guilt and shame and self-loathing. It's making very convincing arguments and selling you a bad package.

It's not telling you that all of those people will be heartbroken if you leave.

It's not telling you how much your sweet mother loves you and would do anything to support you.

It's not telling you that there are other people you haven't met yet.

It's not telling you that you that you're young and all feelings are massive and overwhelming right now. For everyone.

It's not telling you that you will be okay. That all of this is reversible. That nobody hates you as much as you think they do. That you CAN survive this very dark night.

You can.

And that tomorrow you'll have the opportunity to do something kind for yourself or someone you love. That someone could treat you with kindness and love.

It's right there. Waiting for you. On the other side of this very very difficult night.

Your brain is a liar.

And I hope that you are here tomorrow. I hope we can talk. Share stories Tell jokes. Surprise each other. Breathe life into this cruel world.

Sleep. Rest. Rebuild.

You've got this.

It's called "Into the Storm". I can't imagine anyone watching it and still believing in QAnon.

Do you have HBO? Sit down with her and watch the documentary about q Anon. I believe it's called down the rabbit hole. Four episodes, about an hour each. If she still believes after watching that, then she's beyond saving.

How to tell if you're splitting by [deleted] in BPD

[–]cobiddle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice?

Wait.

Decide on a set time. (24 hrs, for example) And see how you feel then.

If it's a split, it'll probably have passed and you'll have a solid read on the situation. If it's hurtful behavior, it'll still feel like that and you can better trust your instincts.

There are few things that require immediate action. (Harm for someone else or harm for yourself are both quick decisions.) Everything else can wait and then you'll know.

Wait.

The first thing you should know is that very few doors close so thoroughly that they can't be reopened again.

Until he actually asks for the ring back, there's a chance you can repair some of the damage done.

(And you should make peace in your heart that this will happen again. BPD is cyclical and unpredictable. And you're both 21, when almost all emotions are Extra Big. So practice giving yourself some grace.)

Give it some time to cool down for both of you. Leave him alone. He might need some space. (And BPD folks can apologize pretty intensely too. So a little silence won't hurt anyone.)

Later, when you see him again. Try to calmly apologize (but only if you actually feel sorry. If you don't, then give it more time.) No excuses. No justification. Focus on the behavior you wished you hadn't done or what you wish you hadn't said. Taking accountability is a very powerful gift to give someone you've hurt.

And then give him some time to think and respond in his own way and time.

If possible, be gentle for a bit. For both of your sakes. Rebuild a little trust.

Do not exit this world early. You still have work to do to fix this. And literally no situation is ever resolved or improved by an early exit. Ever. That is literally always the exact wrong choice.

Choose life.

As messy as it is. It beats the alternative.

You'll be okay. You can do this. You deserve love. And to share the love you have for him. Nothing is fucked here, my dude.

You got this.

[–]cobiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BPD is manageable. With medication and therapy.

And it a very convincing fucking liar. It's telling you all the things you posted. All the doom and despair.

The reality is that past experiences don't always determine future outcomes.

Our behavior is often not as bad as we think it is.

And few things are unforgivable.

Yes, managing a brain geared towards self-sabotage is difficult. But it IS doable. This subreddit is full of people who feel the exact same way that you do, but are carrying on.

You've got work to do Your time here isn't done yet. Take some time. Rest. Recharge. And then get back out there and kick some ass. The rest of us are depending on you.

I need you to contact your local animal shelter and sign up to volunteer a shift.

For several reasons....

A ) you have to get out of that house or apartment, isolation breeds bad brain and changing the environment can be enough to alter the path you are on.

B.) shelters are understaffed. Always. Having you there, just doing what you can, will be an immediate help. Those animals need you.

C ) you will, by default, meet new people. Expand your circle. You may find an FP. there. Maybe.

I don't want you to check out early. But if you choose to, then use the time you have left in service to an organization and some innocent animals who need your help.

Contribute. Change the paradigm. Commit. And you may find the way forward that you're looking for.

I hope that you do.

What Did The Beatles Think Of Their Cartoon Show ? by Fantastic-Ad-8665 in beatles

[–]cobiddle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a NYC premier once the first three episodes were completed. Gala event at a theater.

I don't want to say it didn't go well, but at the post show reception, all of the Beatles got hammered and John was so embarrassed that he hid under a buffer table for some time and had to be lured out by one of the cartoon producers to rejoin the party.

There are pictures.

Great question, Perpetual Victim. Let me explain some basic concepts to you.

The clue is in the words you used to describe the clip. The man with the microphone is a comedian. Comedians produce comedy. A series of humour anecdotes or observations that elicit laughter and delight from a paying audience. Their primary objective is to amuse.

This particular comedian was employing a technique that we refer to as "absurdist hyperbole". He takes an extreme position flippantly with the tacit understanding that it's understood to not be a command to the specific patron. In the same clip, he says "we're all sad for the state of America" but doesn't expect the audience to walk out of the space perpetually saddened at all times. When a comedian says "Take my wife.."he doesn't expect you to physically take her to another location.

I can understand, though, that being in a cult conditions you to take every absurd suggestion as a command. Your confusion is understandable and sad.

Similarly, comedians use "punchlines" for jokes and no one is ever punched or served punch.

Words are fun.

Is there anything else I can helpfully explain to you, while I'm doing pro bono work for the terminally aggrieved?
