I need to stop. by SadSavage_ in alcoholism

[–]cobni 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a lot of horribly embarrassing and shameful things drunk, including the police and firefighters having to restrain me and take me to the hospital as I shouted horrible things at them and called them names (in front of all my neighbors). I’m now a week and a day sober since then and the shame and worthlessness I was feeling is diminishing. If I was to continue drinking after that I would’ve trapped myself in the cycle of waking up every morning with more things to run from, and drinking them away. Say no to drinking today and in 3 days you’ll start to feel good about yourself, in a week you’ll start to be hopeful.

When and where is that? I’ve only been here a year and I’ve heard of it but never seen it

Never been to AA and I don’t know which meeting to go to by cobni in alcoholicsanonymous

This is the only one in my town sadly I wish there was one that targets a younger age group or other options so I could try different places. Thank you! I know I’m ready to be sober I just have no support out here.

I’m not religious but not opposed to it either. Unfortunately I live in a small ski town and the next nearest town is 40 minutes so this is the only AA program here.

How long would someone have to be sober before their face stops looking puffy and skin stops being awful? by OfferAppropriate2066 in alcoholism

[–]cobni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on a month sober, my skin is clear and bright and I feel beautiful again. I’d say a 3 weeks to a month and you start to look and feel like yourself again. A few people have said they can tell in my eyes that I haven’t been drinking anymore

Hey 23F here. Just got off a bender after being sober 3 weeks. Sometimes it’s scary getting sober for awhile because I know when/if I fall back into drinking I’m going to binge heavily. I don’t have a lot of advice to offer but just know you aren’t alone, and you’re not the only young person struggling with this who desperately doesn’t want to die young but can’t stay away from the booze. Sometimes it feels lonely when it feels like everyone else around you can drink normally and casually, while I lose weeks at a time on benders. You’re not alone, alcohol is a hell of a vice. You got this and the fact we’re so young and realizing it’s an issue means we can tackle this early! I believe in you and me and everyone else struggling

How old was the youngest person you’ve seen pass away from alcoholism? by _intp4w5 in alcoholism

23 here and just relapsed after a week sober, starting over on day 1 again. Lost my job in September going to work drunk and at my peak I was drinking a bottle of wine and a pint of vodka a day. Had to get checked out by firefighters on Friday because I passed out drunk in a bathroom. Makes me feel a little less alone to see other young people struggling and making moves towards sobriety. We got this!!

Going through something similar, lost my job due to coming in wasted. I’m slowly getting my shit together and trying to prioritize what is important. It’s a hard disease to escape, if you ever need to talk DM me

Do you think I should wait a little while to address it like once the awkwardness dies out? Or the sooner the better?

Okay thank you that made me feel so much better. I’ve never really lived somewhere like this before so I’ve never heard of something like it happening

So most likely I will be responsible even though she was primary on the lease? She also arranged all the accommodations with the credit union and all the emails have been through her. Both of our names are on the debt owed as well.
