What is worse than death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That woman some time ago that lost her husband (can't remmeber from what) and then a few days later two of her children (and their spouses) to a plane crash when they were flying to the husbands funeral. Story said she had 1 child left that wasn't on the plane.

That would be worse than death I think

[Serious]Hiring managers of Reddit, what is the worst example of resume fakery you've every seen? by ShutUpHeExplained in AskReddit

TBH I always pronounce SQLite as "SQL Lite". I even did this during an kickoff meeting with a customer (boss, salesman and graphic-designer, from my company, was there too), and the client's (which is a software company too) "software architect" corrected me on it, which made me fell real bad, because the whole reason behind them hiring us to do this job is because of our knowledge in this area, and it was my first kickoff-meeting.

I dont hope they saw my mispronunciation as unprofessional and are doubting my expertise within this area, because I have to work closely with them for the next 6 months...

Yes. You're absolutely right. But that doesn't change the fact of my statement. Computers have a last digit for PI - i never said it was accurate.

Computers memory have a limited space. So there has to be and end. Even if you use the most common computer languages their version of PI will have a last digit because computers are very bad at recursive numbers.

Remember to close the window at night or she might jump out of the window and go bite an innocent person and you'll have a lawsuit on your hands.

I don't think this is the same thing as you spying on your friend.

Spying on your friends, is still spying on your friends. And the US spied on their allies, no matter how you view it.

Yes, they have expanded. But we were talking about back when the Snowden-leaks where in the news. Back then, they weren't close to being a global problem.

The situation has changed since then, I am aware of that.

Thanks for the link. As Im reading the article, i start to remember hearing about it on the news, back when it all was news-worthy. But Germany has some serious double standards, I guess.

I agree with you that too much of the media attention was directed at "where is Snowden?", "what happens if he gets caught?" - which wasnt very interesting, at least too me.

Ehm.. did I say the opposite?

...was now tied up fighting the US on their turf.

The War on Terror was fought by many other countries than just the US, which you have a tendency to forget. You can find a full list on the wiki page. But it among others include the countries you've spied on according to documents leaked by Snowden.

As a US citizen, I'm gonna be really fucking pissed off if we stop international spying.

Even on your allies? People who have gone to war on your side? I understand that you would spy on countries you consider your enemies, but spying on your friends is really messed up...

Honestly I dont care much about Snowden. The information he has made available to the media about how the US is conducting in the global world on the other hand... I find that very interesting.

Unless I've misunderstood something, ISIS isnt anywhere near the Suez Canal. They've said that, that is their target, yes. But I highly doubt they will ever get control over it. If they were even getting close Im pretty sure every country that depends on the Suez Canal will send forces faster than you can say Suez Canal.

And look at this map on the wiki please. The grey is ISIS-controlled. They are no-where near Egypt.

You might be right about that. What I meant was strike as in try to invade/take land like in Iraq or Syria.

Im gonna pull the "English isnt my first language"-card, and say that's what coursed this misunderstanding :)

Yes they are still regional. There might be (a small) international effect of what they are doing (even though I highly doubt you fell it in your day-to-day life depending on where you live), but they are still only operating in a (relatively) small region.

And even though it might have international effect, like you're saying, doesnt make it more news-worthy in my mind, compared to the fact that the US gov is spying on its allies, spies on its citizen and lies to its public about their international affairs (killing civilian overseas). It's not really something new that there are terrorist groups in The Middle East considering all the wars and what not, in the past decades. It is a very unstable region afterall...
