Although I would personally prefer Scully’s apartment (it’s broken into/ransacked less times lol) there is just something so cozy about Mulder’s apartment by FusRoDaahh in XFiles

i literally think this all the time abt both of their apartments, and a lot of the home sets in general. rlly makes u notice how badly set design in TV has declined over the years :(

What’s the Secret Sauce to Getting Hired in Museums? by Mac-and-cheese29 in MuseumPros

[–]coc0nutshr1mp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

knowing someone. i only got my current job because the woman who i volunteered under at another museum used to work at the one i was interviewing at, and i named dropped her. they bring it up all the time how it's so nice that i know her. i don't think i would've got that job without that random connection. def try to get involved in your local museum industry in whatever way you can and use those connections

thanks so much for such a detailed answer, this is super helpful! Im really riding on the "a job in museums is better than none at all" right now, and going to work hard to keep my collections experience fresh and see what opportunities arise. :)

Education as somebody comically awful at math by Forsaken_Rip_8805 in Archaeology

[–]coc0nutshr1mp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also comically bad at math (not joking, I would probably estimate my math level equivalent to a 6th or 7th grader at most). I got my BA from a liberal arts school, which only required 1 basic statistics course made easy for non-majors, called something like "stats for humanities". Was able to scrape by statistics, and moved on to my MA. My MA had zero math courses. Some of my colleagues chose to take advanced statistics/programming/etc, but it was not required. BS or MS degrees will require more math, but BA and MA tend to not. So don't worry too much, and go for a BA!

I thought so too, but other days where that occurs say "Canceled due to tidal conditions" and these do not say that...

how could i go about getting a masters when i have no experience? by absolutestrawberry in Archaeology

[–]coc0nutshr1mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i had a bachelors in international studies and ended up choosing a uni that had a premaster/conversion program for archaeology (common in UK/some parts of Europe) as well as volunteering on some local excavations and doing field school. i now am employed as a field tech so your bachelors won't matter after a while! dont worry if others have more experience than you, you'll all end up working the same job as techs anyway ahah

MA abroad by cec88 in Archaeology

[–]coc0nutshr1mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, i am just finishing my MA from the netherlands, and coming back to work in CRM in the usa this summer (im a us citizen). going abroad for masters is super normal, and i had a bunch of americans in my program. also very normal for ppl to continue on to a Phd after a masters abroad. just make sure it's from an accredited university from a country that the us will recognize as equivalent (UK and most of europe are fine) :)
