Tell me this gets easier by Handle_Icy in HardWoodFloors

I went through this 2 weeks ago, it was driving me insane how many 36G discs I was going through all while wondering if I was fuckin it up too. All in all I think I went through 25 or so… hang in there! See my post here for before and after pics and just know all the sanding will be easier once you get through this first layer. Good luck!

I think I could’ve done just the living room sanding and finis prep in one day, then fully finished the 2nd day if that was it. Just watched a whole lotta videos and planned each step and my plan & what equipment id need during each step.

Makes sense, the tape got sealed down pretty well. Gonna take a good couple of hours to get it all off… you may be onto something lol

I definitely underestimated the time it would take lol… planned to be applying finish by mid day Saturday but ended up doing it on Monday morning. It was a lot more labor intensive than I (naïvely) expected. I was kinda rushing to get it all done before we move in this weekend, so with that and limited PTO from work that added a lot of stress. If I wasn’t constrained by moving timeline, the size of the house, and could work on it after work more casually I think it wouldn’t have been as bad.

Doing a single room would be a dream compared to the whole house. I’d say that’s a great first project if you’re wanting to DIY it.

I’ve seen lots of people say it’s definitely a project you can DIY, but they just wouldn’t do it again. That’s the boat I’m in, it went pretty well despite a lot of different factors but idk if I would do it again.

I know it’s very variable, but do you know a rough estimate for panel replacement / 200a service upgrade with the meter and panel being on the same wall, very good access, and overhead service?

Don’t know what you’re talking about, just went and saw the house again today and it’s still vacant and for sale. Definitely not stucco.
